I was toying with the idea of doing a steam set using Gwindel's/Bhoritz' set as a base. I especially like this set because it includes no Redcoats (nothing wrong with the British, of course, Ijust think they are overdone) though it includes some blue jackets, which are pretty universal.
Instead of the English, I'm thinking of using some French Foreign Legion, Belgians and Askaris that I found on this site, all of which are very nicely done.
Only trouble is finding Arabs or Tuaregs and African natives. I know they can he a touchy subject these days, and I did think about doing something along the lines of Sky Galleons of Mars, and so bypass the issue altogether, perhaps with the Thrikreen recolor I have requested elsewhere and so kindly received.
But I ended up deciding that this would be a cop out, as I really do intend to showcase the bravery (and villainy) of both sides.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Antohammer has a new Colonial set out at DRive-thru rpg for the Sudanese campaign which contains some British troops, but also a small group of Sudanese Mahdists and three "Fuzzy Wuzzys", Hadendoa tribesmen.
Generic Black Tribesmen Obviously, this one is just what it says on the tin, generic, but could help fill out a scene in sub-saharan africa.
I don't know where I got them from and they mainly only have reflected fronts but there is more than one colonial africa set from Patrick Crusieau out there, as well.

GR Thanks for this, Gentleman Ranker, and I go to follow up on it now. I'd really love to see the Patrick set you mention as well. I am perfectly happy with left and right mirror image pieces. Thanks again!

Appreciated as always Vermin King, but I can't get either of those links to work. Odd. Even the ones in your quote work for me, both on Firefox and Chrome. What browser are you using?

I don't seem to have the original of the Patrick set. However the version I have is a pdf titled Jungle Expedition. It states, "Miniatures converted by Mahotsukai..." and contains a safari with heroes, villains and bearers, a bunch of african spearsmen, a witch doctor, tarzan on an elephant and an army of roman lizardmen (presumably from a lost city!)
Mahotsukai posted on here as recently as last year. The set was converted in 2006. At a guess, I may have found it in one of the hoards here! I'll see if I can find it. Alternatively I may have to put it up on dropbox.
Edited to say. I can't find that to save my life. Whilst searching I found that hoard 78-80 from 2010 contains some bedouin on camels. Hoard 107 was Oriental and Bedouin. But I don't know whether it contains anything of interest.
If you want that mahotsukai file and can't find it, let me know and I'll try to make Dropbox work! GR

It was in the MMiP archive #22-Pulp, which is currently offline for repairs. Here is the file though; drive.google.com/file/d/1S1iKzMaBD93vxVzyFNpoCe2odGTmqLD_/view?usp=sharing

I got the Lost Jungle Expedition file, and it is really fantastic! Couldn't be more Edgar Rice Burroughsian if it tried. I even have some Tharks (from the nice warriors and Jeddak made by one of our membership, sorry if I can't remember who) to add to it if I want to extend into that Burroughsian realm as well. Does anybody have a Tripod? Sorry, getting a bit far off there.
ONLY ONE THING. Can I PAY somebody to recolor the tribesmen, askaris, witchdoctor and porters?
Though they do look nice as they are. the heavy black lines I put around my figures would dissolve them into nothing. I guess I'd like them too light rather than too dark, a very light mahogany would be nice.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO WISH TO PAY OR AT LEAST TRADE FOR THIS RECOLORING.
You guys are all very friendly about getting this stuff done, and I am very grateful, but I don't want to seem like a bum. I would be happy to trade rules or other stuff in lieu of paying if that is preferred.
PS I would also love to get a tutorial on how I could recolor these guys using Paint or Gimp or whatever. A lot of the favors I have asked (such as with the Thrikreen/phraint/ant-warrior) need not have caused anyone any bother if I could just learn to do this myself. And, of course, I'd be even MORE happy to pay for that. Just bear in mind that I can be a slow learner where software is concerned.
Thanks again to all.

adjutantgeneral Just to give you a heads up, Antohammer has another new colonial set out with Egyptian and Sudanese soldiers. GR Much indebted for this Gentleman Ranker. I like Antohammer's pieces immensely, and actually commissioned him to do a Napoleonic set a while back, which looks great. I also appreciate the buildings, but I do all of my terrain as horizontal flats, while the miniatures are, of course, vertical flats. I just think the setup is much easier and the buildings less fragile, though I have certainly seen beautiful looking stuff in 3d paper. Thanks again!
