Now you need to tackle mounted figures... JIM Most little girls grow up drawing ponies and horses but i must have skipped class that day... My niece can draw horses with amazing accuracy... but me? i think they are the most stupidly complex beasts ever. what is worse is that i actually grew up around horses on a farm. i have some mounted figures planned though... they are sort of iconic of the old west unfortunately. *sigh* We will see what i come up with.

Use Jim's horse outlines. Might help - they are floating around here somewhere....

I'm going to post the horse parts I had designed. They would be good at least of assembling and tracing. I know I struggled with them myself. JIM

I am horribly bad at deciding when to stop messing with a project and call it done... but I think all the experimentation i've been doing will be worth it in the end. I had been making everything in inkscape and then adding texture and extra shading in gimp but that seemed overly complicated. plus, i'm not really sure that texture even shows up on small human sized figures. I decided to cut gimp out of the process and look for a way to do more exact shading in inkscape besides gradient fills. I REALLY love the shadow and highlights that darkmook uses on his work... so i went with something similar that i think i am happy with. still sort of figuring it out... I also realized i need deadlines or i will just keep experimenting forever so i'll post those in my currently working on post. I'll try to keep to them better than Blizzard does theirs. I know that is not saying much. Don't know if it's what you were going for... but this figure is totally Emilio Estevez from Young Guns! I can just hear this guys saying, "I'll make ya' famous..." right before he shoots someone! Well Done!

Already been said, but I have to say the shading looks great-glad you liked my technique enough to give it a whirl and help find your signature style! Looking forward to more figs!

Ditto... that's some very nice shading... I'm curious to see how it looks printed out...

I find myself being influenced by Darkmook too. I think you've captured the shadow and highlights well. You can really see the progression of your talents, and its obvious that you'll be able to kick the blizzard guys ass.
