I thought I was much farther along with this than I truly am, but after doing some GIMP work today, I think that I might still be able to come up with something for the Hoard. One problem is lack of photos (and I do not have the series on DVD). Here's what I've got. I am going to start with the Honda Beachcomber I posted about ages ago, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/post/99874/threadGotta find an appropriate tan/brown color, create the corrugated fiberglass fenders, simplify the single gauge (not sure if it is a speedometer or fuel gauge, but it is round), make the storage racks to lay on top with the old-style headlights, and you know me, I have to have an overly complicated brush-bar arrangement for the front that I know no one but me will build. But first I need to build my reduced versions of the Quad, posted here, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/post/93935/threadWithout having build experience of the basic vehicle, I won't know how and what to change.

I have come to the realization that in simplifying the quad, the designer created a nightmare. They had a section to upload photos of 'your build', and there are only two photos. One better than mine, the other considerably worse, and I am embarrassed to post mine, which still needs reduced and retextured. Aargh!

Okay, call me pig-headed. On the first build (the olive one that no one will ever see), it became obvious that this design is NOT an EZ-bild. I was talking to my daughter-in-law last night who mentioned that I 'never give up'. Razzum frazzum. So, let me go back to the reduced-scale Honda quads. Still not reduced enough. The green one is toast, but I started on the reduced original The first step is to score it following these simple diagrams My experience with the first one caused me to make a few changes, like more tabs under the body, not just three on a side. Before any cutting, I double and triple checked against the scoring/folding diagrams, remembering that on one portion, the folds are reversed in the instructions. At this point, I have done a lot of pre-forming and edging. Even though most folks didn't like my way of handling the Kurogane Type 95, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/8850/kurogane-type-95A fender piece like they have done, but doing the wheels differently. The body of the bike will go on top of the fender piece, then the seat and handlebars to cap it off. Also a 3d chassis part underneath to hold everything together. And I should be able to avoid the scoring nightmare. We'll see

Still a lot of stuff that doesn't fit right, in spite of surgery to fix a lot of the issues. But at least it isn't a complete embarrassment. Many of the issues could be solved by not having the wheels attached to the fenders. I am really surprised at how much mis-measurement is in this model. The bright colors on this take the eye away from most of the issues
