The trick. The new base folds down to rest on the back of the cutaway. This still gave a slight gap along the top of the stairs, so I added a tab under the window matching the textures. At this point, I discovered a scaling issue with the texture on the side of the stairs. This was solved by printing a wall on paper and cutting out a bit to cover. Sometimes Photoshop is no substitute for old fashioned scissors and glue.

Case in point, I am going to redo that tab to fit the edge of the stairs. Next step is fitting the external chimney and a couple of side windows.

After a number of alignment issues, I decided to rethink the back of the building. The solution was one inch square tabs extending below the pavement level. These are double thickness and fit into slots cut in the top of the riva. I cut the slots on the grid lines so that they are invisible before the building is fitted.

After sorting out the alignment, I decided to redesign the building steps. I retextured both visible sides with brick from the back wall, using the stone edging to mark the ends of the steps. I replaced the wooden steps with stone ones from the Vermin King ramo. The textures lined up so precisely, I only need to remove the bottom steps. To avoid overcomplicating, I decided to keep the original upper landing and discard the railings.

Very nice. Looking forward to seeing this in place. Though build picks are always welcome

Front from the street, not the canal, right?

The right hand side, showing how the outside steps line up with the ramo steps. I added a side window to view the loading dock from the merchants office.

Front from the street, not the canal, right? The front will be on the Grand Canal. The ramo steps will go to a side canal, until the loading dock is finished. I am working on a platform to join the steps to the loading docks at the mid point.

I decided to include a window on the left side, for balance

The back (pavement side). I decided to complete the steps without handrails.

The trick to solving the alignment issues. Two double thickness tabs extend from the bottom of the back wall and plug into slots in the riva. The collapsible base hinges into place to square the sides. The extra bit of wall stops the cutaway from splaying out.
