YAY!
Turtles! I really like turtles, and I really really like your turtles. ;D
No! Please don't give them riders, or at least let the rider be an option. Pretty please.

Very cool! The top right one is my favorite. I would also vote to do them on their own, you can always do riders separate . JIM

Don't worry Brynbrenainn if I make riders they are going to be optional. I don't know why I wanted to draw turtles all of a sudden, but I guess it is lucky for you that I choose these guys. They are referenced after real turtles. What kind is your favorite? I have inked them. I'll edit the first post, so the thread is prettier. Have changed a few things (namely the biggest turtles. Also the mutant mata-mata turtle and indian star turtle's legs). I hope Jabbro likes them this way better I do. Thanks for bugging me with them, hubby. Anita

Cool. looks like you finalized those last couple of designs. I guess I'll have to find another way to get those gnomes. I still think it is great that you are into miniature making. ;D And yes, the legs look better.

Oh, Hi Jim! ;D So you rather like traditional less mutated turtles? The model of that one was an alligator snapping turtle. Mean creatures, there is a reason to be afraid of that one in real. And thank you for the vote! Jabbro, you know you can still win the favor of optional riders. If nothing else coax me into it somehow Yay! You have finally gave your approval to the legs! Anita

They are referenced after real turtles. What kind is your favorite? Anita It's nice to be lucky from time to time. ;D Favorite... Tricky, they are all nice in different ways. But I think I choose the first and the last in the inked picture. When it comes to real life turtles and tortoises I like the big ones. For example Galapagos turtles and the big Sea Turtles. /B

WOW!
Anita these are SWEET!
I love the feel of these and am really looking forward to seeing how you color them.
I also vote for no riders... they are just too cool by themselves!

Brynbrenainn: I've meant it which is your favorite in real life ;-) I thought maybe I haven't seen it, and could add it to the group. But the mutated giant sea turtle is the very bottom one, and the Galapagos turtle is the one above it. So I have covered them But it is nice to know which figure you like the best. The snapping turtle leads so far with your and Jim's vote. Thank you for the comment!

Hiya! Oh, I'm so happy how the first turtle turned out that I cannot wait to share a preview with you guys until the end of the day. It might be too dark for some tastes, but I want to see how it prints before lightening it any further. Anita

Bryn: *Anita jumps up and down with you and squeal like a piggy.* I'm so happy with it too. Jabbro, not as great as your green dragon Beau: Yeah, I know it looks dark. I really want to see how it prints before I make it lighter. I don't really like it as much when I make the turtle brighter. We will see. SISTER!? Xtea! Xtea! What are you doing here so early on the forums? I thought you are working on your paper figure... this was my first thought, then Jabbro showed what he found on the forum those horses... but I'll comment on that there. As for the coloring of the matamata may surprise you even more So maybe you'll like that one better when done. I hope. Update: I would have never thought, but I like making turtles better than angels Anita

The pinky shell guy looks nice, almost looks like the shell is alive The snapper turtle looks very foreboding and intimidating How big are they? they'd be great as person eating turtles

Good golly that's some great color and texture work. You've really made the line drawings come alive. Spot on treatment so far!
I wouldn't lighten the Steel Jaw either, but giving it a Brightness/Contrast boost and a saturation increase will help make it pop when reduced. (Things you probably already knew).
Good Stuff!

Anita!
The more I look at these, the more genius I think they are!
My daughter and son both love them... They are both huge fans of Gamera (a Japanese kids movie series about a giant flying turtle that saves children from oher giant menaces from the 50's) and are really excited about this release!
In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, Anita, I bet you would be able to make some KILLER giant movie monsters! We're talking like Godzilla, Gamera, King Kong, etc...
Anyway, love the turtles and so glad you're here!

Jim: I'm glad you like the coloring, wouldn't want to ruin your favorite in the bunch with bad colors. I am also surprised you haven't said anything about its darkness, which means I still have hope that he is going to print out okay Sirrob: These turtles reach up to the middle of a human's thigh, maybe waist. The next one I'm working on only get up to his knees. I'd be intimidated if these flesh eating turtles were standing near me. I wanted to make the last turtle sort of look like a rose, I think I succeeded, if the shell looks like it is alive --like a plant is alive. Steve: I believe if they get someone to cook it for them, they would enjoy that soup Floyd: I cannot really raise the contrast due to the way these are shaded. Because the shades are just a layer that is (50%) opaque, colored black and white. Any difference and it is discoloring the rest. I guess bad design on my part. I can try though. Beau: I have seen gamera only on pictures. I thought the new version of him looked rather cool, but the old ones (from 50's) did not win my favor. I cannot help it I need visual appeal the rubber toys just don't do it for me. But those fangs on number 7 turtle are there because I've seen that old photo of him. Thanks for the comments guys! Anita

For most sets, when they are finished, I use flattened art, then apply brightness and contrast to the final image to making printing brighter and sharper. It's the last thing to do to the finished set. test print before release to make sure the colors print as you want them too. JIM

Jim: When I'm brightening the picture doesn't the outline gets grayish? Or does that disappear when you up the contrast. Jabbro does the same as you suggest come to think of it. I have lightened up the turtle after all. Thanks for the reply. Xtea: You are being too nice. Next turtle has some strong colors, careful it may hurt your eyes: Anita

I think you found the right trick for brightening them. The pattern turned out well. I love the amount of contrast you achieved with the hard lighting. Makes me wonder about the way I color.
