Looks good for a start. Try experimenting with gradients, or airbrushing some shadow and highlights to give the figure some depth.
Keep practicing, and try to design something a little each day, and it will become easy, and you will get better. JIM

Nice design. It reminds me of the televised sci fi of the 80's, Battlestar Galactica and such. It has that classic feel to it. Good job. I hope you have more like him in your big plans.

Hey Vadim!
Welcome to the forum!
Great, great start... I would agree with Jim though on experimenting with shadows and gradients to bring a more 3D feel to your models.
Nice line work and posing though!
You say this gong to be a big set? Awesome!
Looking forward to more from you!

Very nice! A whole group of these will look fantastic.
Is this your fist time drawing stuff like this? You seem to have a lot of talent for it, good to see. If there is anything you need, you just ask.
Keep on producing stuff and I'll be more than happy to setup your own board. JIM

That is a very realistic line art. Nice work, Vadim. I don't usually go for historical, but this figure has a fantastic feel for the proportions.

I like the Heavy Marine. He looks cool. The Commissar looks a little off balance, though.
Is he supposed to be running?

Post by squirmydad on Oct 1, 2009 15:39:36 GMT -9
Yea, the commissars gun arm is bent in the wrong direction. Try to avoid making arms perfectly straight or angled outward like that. The rest of him looks good, although I would have done a 3/4 view head as well.
The marine looks great as is! JIM

You could try and bend the whole figure forward, and manipulate the planted leg to sit straight on the ground. Congrats for your new board!

HOLY COW!!
I had NO idea these were out here!
These are FANTASTIC!
I was looking for troops for a Russian Futuristic Army, and these are PERFECT!!
I wasn't sure which was politically correct ("Russian" or "Soviet") so, with your permission, I will call these troops my "KIMERLIN" soldiers.
Thank you for your fine work.
Any way that these could be put as one PDF file for download?
