I am posting both of these here so everyone can get a hand on them. Eventually, when Squirmydad and I have all of them built, Jim will update all the store items with a GSD and possibly SVG files (At least for the ones I create because some of them are slow as a GSD). I think we all agree that there are better things Jim can do with his time than to create GSD files and tutorials. The creation guide is based off of Photoshop, because that is what I use. The InkScape portion of this can be done by anyone. If you have a way to do this through Gimp, feel free to post it here. GSD & SVG Conversion Tutorial.pdfSVG Printing Tutorial for Craft Robo Printers.pdfIf you have any questions about either Tutorial, let me know. Otherwise, happy cutting. Edit: Jim has decided not to support the SVG cutting method (Too many files and too much extra work).

Thanks, Evilxenu. I knew that it should be fairly simple to get the silhouette out of Gimp, I just was not familiar enough with the tools. I'll stick to my ancient version of PS. It consumes less memory.
The InkScape portion is not required, unless you want SVG files (which are very nice). I just chose it because the trace feature on RoboMaster doesn't always trace the top and bottom the same way, and that is a pet peeve of mine.
Good job.

Hey, Evilxenu - I'm reading through your GSD tutorial, since I'm also one of those without a copy of PS. I'm hoping yours will make some things a bit easier. You mention having Gimp 2.6.6, but the most recent version I've found is 2.6.8. The important part of this is that the Gimp will import PDFs without going through GhostScript or anything else. I actually use it to make JPG source files to feed into ROBOMaster. Otherwise, this is shaping up to be exactly the guide I'd been hoping for. -Pb

It does? Cool. I'll have to check it out and update things.
I think I also need to make one minor adjustment in a step. When creating the black silhouettes, you should shrink the outlines by a pixel or two before saving and then importing into RoboMaster. That will give you cuts that are closer to the "true" outline of the shapes.
Thanks, --ex

Well, I suppose it's a matter of your patience. ;D The only weirdness I ran into was that I had to save the file before the pencil tool actually would draw on the image. Apart from that, it went very smoothly. I do think I'll tweak the fold line, but that's a personal preference. Thanks again, -Pb

If the pencil doesn't appear to draw, I've noticed it's usually because you have a selection defined and you are trying to draw outside of that selection. Try ctrl+shift+a to select everything. That usually clears things up.

But this has taught me a LOT about doing things in the Gimp...to the point of making a GSD file that involved 5 elements that had to be moved around to fit. Thanks! -Pb

This link is no longer available. Does anyone have it or an updated version to make GSD files?
