Today I'll get back to work on my medieval ground tiles. While I was working on the wooden fences set, I decided that I'll release the ground tiles as a series of two or three parts.
I'm just about ready to release the basic set, which should feature 9 road textures and plenty of off-road textures.
Ramps and elevated sections will come soon after. I'd also like to create some canal sections and garden/crop plots as add-ons. Once the elevated sections are available, I'll have a great platform for creating a bridge or two, and river tiles.
While I'd like to release all of those components as one complete set, it'll probably take a couple of months to get them all together. I like being able to release small sets often, so that folks can cherry-pick their favorites without getting a lot of stuff they don't want. Completists just have to wait a while to get everything, but the nice thing about tiles is that you can rearrange them any time you pick up a new set.
And it helps my workflow to have an overall plan for these sorts of things, but be able to work on them in bite-size chunks. I'm kind of addicted to that weekly product release. (I usually celebrate with a grilled cheese sandwich from In-N-Out Burger. There's a Pavlovian thing happening there, I'm sure.)
So that's what's likely to happen with the tiles. It's Wednesday, yeah? I should be able to release the first set by this weekend.
Once that's done, I plan to return to a ruined house model that's just lines at this point. It needs to be skinned and tested, but I should be able to finish that by the end of next week.
After that, I'll either go back to the ground tiles to finish the ramps and elevated sections -- or start in on a new slot-fit walls project that could be a big hit with sci-fi gamers.
It's unusual to have so many projects lined up, but it's also good to have a plan.
Anyway, enough blabbing. I should get back to work.
