Ok, so I decided to start a new thread just to give you heads up about the upcoming monster packs. We were going to release it all in one pdf, but it was ginormous, so we will probably be breaking it up into two separate downloads.
Trust me, you won't want to miss these Monster Packs! They contain by far my best work to date. Including one piece in particular that I would go so far as to say is a masterpiece for me. Namely we are putting in one rider to go along with all the monsters, and he turned out really nice. Take a look.

You may don't know this, but while i've still to draw anything, i do a lot of critics (just to be constructive and useful in some manner)
So, this is what i've seen after i've been able to close my mouth and stop drooling: 1) That kind of shadow on the thigh armour give the feeling that the thigh is thin, that there is not so much muscle... 2) As he is riding somewhat big (a dragon?) the legs should not be seen from the exact side (as he having the knee touching), but in a sort of 3/4 view....
Sorry about that, it's back up now. I was starting to have second thoughts about posting the preview.
I think you may be right about that Parduz. sometimes I get so focused on how things look up close I forget to take a look at the bigger picture to see how it looks more macroscopically. I may adjust that, or I may not. I guess even if I just shaded that part a little differently it would probably make a difference.

Bear in mind the size of the preview..... the actual mini will be a quarter of the size. It's an excellent knight, lovely artwork. Maybe a tiny hint of highlight on the rear of his thigh to make the leg stand out.... it's well proportioned when you look at it properly, it's only a 'first impression' that it's a bit thin (due to the armour being lighter coloured and standing out more than the trousers). And at figure scale, probably won't even be an issue! I'm seriously looking forward to the rest. I've just worked out how the assembly will work.... that's really clever,he'll fit on anything won't he? Inspired
It's out of my hands now. I have sent my art over to the production crew (Nik) to get them formatted, create cut files, and do builds for promo pics. I will check in today to see how close we are.
Right now I am working on artwork for the races page for sanitystudios.com/bellicose
I am working on the image for the orcs right now.
If you look closely you will notice I have already made some modifications to the original drawing. Mainly I made the hand holding the chain larger in the painting for better perspective. There is still a lot of work to do on this one.
Yes the orc army will have bison riders. Cool, I know.
Yes they do look nicely painted, I'm always torn between doing it in GIMP and restricting myself to 2 fixed poses as the time to colour would go up by factor of 2x or Inkscaping them and living with gradient fills colouring once and then bending and adjusting as many versions as I'd like...plus that saves on drawing something I'm not stellar at.
I guess it's just picking which is your preferred compromise...
The Ork looks really great by the way, dose these mean you have done some Ork buffalo riders and Fantasy Orks in general

"There is wisdom in turning as often as possible from the familiar to the unfamiliar: it keeps the mind nimble, it kills prejudice, and it fosters humour." George Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952)
Will there be side-views of the Bison-riding Orcs? The concept sketch and is pretty cool, but I'd prefer it to be a side-view.
The bison rider orc is just some artwork for the website. When I get the actual paper minis done they will be side view in the usual fashion. I haven't done any of these yet, but they are on the to do list along with the rest of the orc army, a dwarf army, and a human army. Then I gotta go back and flesh out the horde and faerie armies that I already did so that there are more variations of each troop type.
Yes I understand the limitations to painting my figures in photoshop. However I am looking for a happy medium where I can incorporate my painting style with modularity for ease of creating multiple versions of the same troop type. I experimented a bit with this when I did the warbirds in the soon-to-be released monster pack. It worked out well with them, but you do have to make more adjustments as you go along to make sure the painting actually makes sense.
Like I say, I still have a ton to learn, but my current paper minis are leaps and bounds better than my first few. In fact I'll post a pic of my very first paper mini so you can see what I mean.
My first thought was that this has to be some kind of Lion-Leech-Zombie that hooked onto this poor barbaric soul and is now controlling him on a spree of epic bloodlust. Then I yawned with a vengeance and all that's left is great artwork, and I don't think that's a bad thing .
squirmydad: Fast? Today is only the 98th of March...

Parduz: how are you going, guys? things are running so fast!

marcpasquin: After Goscinny died, people thought it would be the end of Asterix as he was the writing part of the team but Uderzo managed to keep it going and eventually pass on the torch to new teams that still produce albums to this day.

marcpasquin: Asterix was such a big part of my childhood. Not only did I read all the albums but every years the cartoon movies were part of "Ciné-Cadeau", a holiday time programming block on Télé-Québec that showed animated movies for kids.

lightning: I cannot count how often I read Asterix and Obelix as a kid. Loved how it always ended at a big town dinner around a huge bonfire and the troubadour was gagged somewhere so he couldn't sing. Good times!

Parduz: I still love that comics. Some of them (around the middle age of Asterix production) have some of the best story/dialogues/jokes ever.
Mar 24, 2020 11:31:07 GMT -9
squirmydad: God I LOVED those books as a child. Sorry to see him pass.
Mar 24, 2020 8:50:27 GMT -9
wyvern: RIP Albert Uderzo, co-creator with René Goscinny of the Asterix comic books. [And no, he died from a heart attack.]

Vermin King: Trump is an S-hole, but Clinton should be in prison. I don't like Biden, but at least it's a step up from 2016
Mar 22, 2020 18:40:25 GMT -9
Vermin King: Well, my efforts to reboot 2020 haven't worked, so I probably won't try the others. BTW, I have always said I am an equal opportunity politician basher. Trump is undoubtedly an ass, but I still have to look at him being the lesser of two evils.
Mar 22, 2020 18:39:00 GMT -9
Parduz: well, then may i ask if we go pre 1994 so we could get rid of Bungasconi...
Mar 22, 2020 17:06:54 GMT -9
ignatious: perhaps a system restore on 2020 might work, and if we go pre 2016 maybe we could get rid of the trumpvirus.
Mar 22, 2020 8:19:43 GMT -9
Vermin King: I tried, but it hasn't worked so far. Maybe I will try again
Mar 22, 2020 4:46:23 GMT -9
Parduz: pls reboot the 2020, then.
Mar 22, 2020 1:07:14 GMT -9
Vermin King: Rebooting the whole system fixed it
Mar 21, 2020 5:47:43 GMT -9
lightning: and yet you are able to post here @vermin king?
Mar 21, 2020 5:34:43 GMT -9
Vermin King: Panic -- when you've been sick during a pandemic and have to self quarantine, and then wake up to no cable or internet
Mar 21, 2020 3:48:57 GMT -9
Parduz: ... and some upper lip mods? Perhaps?
Mar 20, 2020 14:44:52 GMT -9
marcpasquin: @vermin King to be fair, different hairstyle, costume type and about 15 years in between the 2 roles.
Mar 20, 2020 6:31:47 GMT -9
Vermin King: I feel like an idiot. Didn't realize that Vanessa (Deadpool) was Inara Serra until last night. Duh
