Here you can see a stack of two building blocks. There's a roof cap piece that can be lifted off to access the interior. (I'll include some slip-in floor tiles, and possibly some interior walls. I'm not sure how much furniture I want to put in these, but we'll see.) The two blocks are kept together by a simple connector piece. The connector acts as a roof for the lower block, and snugly fits the upper block to hold them together. Simple, sturdy and expandable. Now I just need to figure out what sorts of skins to put on!

That is a very cool idea Dave! Get some sweet fantasy buildings using those and I'd be in. You could really just use your released stuff and convert it (but you've probably already thought of that).

Wow, that could easily be used for both fantasy and sci-fi buildings. You could use thick clear packaging material for walls of glass, or custom cut acrylic sheet.
It will be fun to see what you can come up with. JIM

That's a great idea, Dave. I've found that a fast and easy way to support these larger floor spans is to pop a triangular brace along the middle of the bottom. The brace looks like this: Cheers,

What an awesome idea! And I love Sirrob01's idea of using them for mini's storage boxes at the same time.
Have you decided what sizes will be available? There is definitely a need for some larger buildings.

So here's the state of the tower now. I've added another layer, and it's really starting to look like a serious structure. There's a lip along the roofline now, and some machinery on the roof. I'm going with a cyberpunk sort of look for this one, which should also work great for ultra-modern buildings like research labs or computer centers. I plan to add some interior furnishings, such as: An elevator (not a working one, though -- just a glorified phone booth) Seating Desks/consoles Shelving units/lockers Conference/plan table Toilet Shipping crates Other utilities/equipment (computer servers, water heater, that sort of thing)

Be sure the restrooms are wheel chair accessible and conform to the the correct Federal guidelines! There has to be a sink, microwave and refrigerator in the break area. And lots of ventilation ducts for skull-duggery!
Have fun! Steve
P.S. - Donuts and Starbucks would be nice!

I'm looking forward to these, a guy could go crazy thinking about the cast number of textures/themes that would look good an these models.
I wonder if Ackbar knows "It's a trap!!"

I really like this building layout. As said above, it is easily changeable form SciFi to fantasy by changing the textures. I would really like to see what you can do with furnishings too.

I haven't designed much furniture at all, so I have a lot of learning to do there. I should go take another look at your stuff and steal all your good ideas.
