I am currently working on a set of figure recolor/mods to use with Mel’s Landing pad that I TLX’d and WWG’s Mars Station terrain that I also converted. They are the 421st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the "Canal Rats" and are stationed at Mars Base. Mel did a series of vehicle skins called Luna Base and I took that idea and ran with it, creating a Mars Base scheme. I liked the orange on the rescue Percherons so I texture grabbed it and made it a little darker. I know that these aren't Christmas Wars, but my drawing ability is abysmal and I'm currently working on getting better at it. I'm going to have these done for the horde this month and then I’ll try my hand at next month’s theme. I have been on a crash education course in Gimp for the last 3 or 4 weeks and have improved a ton since I began. I started the figures with the uncolored pages from some of the Terra Force sets and first did the mods I needed and then went from there. This is the commander of the Canal Rats doing a last walkaround before the mission. He is waiting impatiently as the other troopers are still being issued their appropriate Mars pattern equipment from the Gimp Quartermaster. ;D

cowboyleland: I always thought Tirick was a little mad.

Vermin King: Really worn out tonight, so when I'm like that I just look for things I used to have, but don't any more. I got the Zippy models and am rebuilding my Tirick/TCF Gaming folder. How the heck would anyone build his 1/1000 Battletech mechs without enlarging

Toman: yea I have been. pretty cool project. I've done a few scratch builds like that but not as large. cutting individual stones or carving stones in foam sucks.

Vermin King: Anybody else following Mauther's home-made Playmobile castle build? Looks really good so far

cowboyleland: Good point. Maybe make the wing feathers seperately so that the wind could get through them?

squirmydad: We had two operators for the hawk though, one to carry the weight and the other to flap the wings.

squirmydad: Probably silk and dowels. I assisted in the construction of a giant hawk puppet for an indoor show, probably about the same size as that pegasus.

Vermin King: It's got to be really light. The article dealt with parade puppets. I don't think I'd want to be trying to control that in a stiff wind

lightning: that's a nice pegasus!

shep: Will it fly, if you move the wings fast enough?
