Second design iteration: reduced the fighters a little bit and made one of the stands shorter than the other. Made several changes to one of the ship designs and created two different sizes, both were easy to build. Also made a carrier for the first style of ships.

I hate Starmada AE from the bottom of my heart but your ships are very nice! I'd like them a bit more streamlined but i see that they becomes fiddly. Thanks for doing them!!

Thanks for the comments! I hope to post colored versions soon. @reivaj: as you guessed, Starmada AE is a miniature game of starship combat, played on an hex grid. I learned about it after Sirrob pointed me to the Majestic 12 website -- they make this and other miniature rules. Parduz: may I ask if you hate Starmada AE compared to previous versions (from what I know, the rules have changed from Starmada X to this) or all versions?

Thanks for the comments! I hope to post colored versions soon. Thanks. I dunno what method you use to design them, but if you use any vector program, do you mind to share the vector files? Parduz: may I ask if you hate Starmada AE compared to previous versions (from what I know, the rules have changed from Starmada X to this) or all versions? I just "hate" that ruleset. Here's the story: I meet my gaming friends each tuesday. When we become tired about any particular game, we bring out Silent Death and play a mindless, refreshing and fun dogfighting with fighters. In more than ten years we have literally worn out the map and the counters....and then we thought that we may like to try a "bigger scale" for our space combats. So i bought Starmada AE with 2 "sourcebook", i print them (LOT of pages) and built the books, the we tried it. S:AE showed a nice (although counterintutive) movement system, then i fired with my biggest ship... and after two more shots we folded the game. In Silent Death to shoot at someone you roll 3 dice: that roll tells you if you hit and what damage you do. Perhaps you have to roll a d10 for a critical. So an attack requires from 5 to 15 seconds. In S:AE i rolled about 15-20 dice (a battery of one type of weapons), you remove the ones that does not hit and reroll the remaining, to which you remove the one that does not pass armour. Again, you roll the remaining dice and finally you know what damage you score... which need to be allocated BY ROLLING DICE! A simultaneous attack of two enemy ships (with multiple batteries of weapons) required 20 minutes to be solved. To me, and for my friends also, it was unacceptable. The books are now gathering dust in the same shelf of the books of my second most hated game.... D&D 4e

Wow, those ships are amazing! And I feel even better to see that I went with some design solutions similar to his By the way, although I had visited the PaperMakeit site, I had only seen the PMI projects and Free Projects. So when you sent that link I went searching how it would be reached from the front page, and only then I saw there's a Members' Projects area!

Thanks. I dunno what method you use to design them, but if you use any vector program, do you mind to share the vector files? Sure. I used Inkscape to make them, I'll post the files here. I just "hate" that ruleset. Here's the story: ... A simultaneous attack of two enemy ships (with multiple batteries of weapons) required 20 minutes to be solved. To me, and for my friends also, it was unacceptable. Ugh, 20 minutes for an attack is very bad. I bought the game after reading some favorable reviews but I haven't played it yet...

Here's the vector file with the test models. Basically there are two ship styles here, the "rectangular" and "hexagonal" ones; I plan on making two sets with fighters, carriers and small, medium, and large ships from which fleets can be constructed.

Here's the vector file for the first fleet.
@sirrob: most of my tabletop gaming lately is solo, which reduces the problem of long games. Thanks for the link.

How are they supposed to be built? half of them seems messed up.... asymmetric and sliced...

Thanks for the link, Sirrob! Love those ships, each fleet has a very distinct style. How are they supposed to be built? half of them seems messed up.... asymmetric and sliced... I was confused too, then I found this forum about the game. www.powerfist.dk/forum/index.php?board=251.0This thread shows the construction of some ships: www.powerfist.dk/forum/index.php?topic=29568.0There's also a thread with better explanation of the rules... Google Translate managed to translate it from danish into somewhat understandable english.

Here's the finished PNG with the first fleet, in 300dpi. Should fit in either an A4 or letter sheet of paper.

Wonderful!!!
May i pose a request? If you align all the ship "tips", and draw a vertical line to guide the folding, tue users may pre-score that fold with a reduced "angle" error (as the line is very long and so it is more precise). Also the fighters group could benefit of this. And, finally, hair-thin folding markers around the other pieces could be useful. Hope you can undestrand what i mean....

Here is the new PNG with aligned ships and fold marks. For the next fleet I'll remember to do this right from Inkscape I also marked the lines that are meant to be cut. I didn't want to draw them in red over the models to give the option of not adding the fiddly bits to the battleship and cruiser.

Seeing this thread and the idea of running a Travelleresque campaign, reminded me of way back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and a small group of us at school player Traveller during the break time, I came up with Traveller star ship stats for the Star Fleet ship in the Star Fleet Technical Manual. Might give a go again sometime, maybe use High Guard.

Sorry if I'm pedantic, but these are the ship in the file They fits with the ship on the left, but not with the two on the right. Maybe they are no more available, and that's ok, but the picture is a little misleading.

Would you consider doing a build pic of this file so I can upload an updated pic?
