I received the Papertoy Monsters book that they mention as an Easter present this year. My kids and I have made about sixteen of the kits in the book, they're good fun.

I think with more and more people getting printers to go with their computers, it may be bound to grow as a hobby. Especially for children who grow up with computers and printers in their homes. But what happens when everyone has 3D resin printers in their homes, who knows?

But what happens when everyone has 3D resin printers in their homes, who knows? Some of us will stake make paper miniatures. The skill sets required for 3D rendering are on an entirely different level. I'll probably do both, because 3D scanner technology goes hand in hand with 3D printing tech. Being able to scan my toy and model collections and then rescaling and printing them for tabletop gaming will be too awesome a temptation to resist.

I bet printing on paper and investing in some glue will always beat the cost of the resin to make models... At leats for the forseeable future, which as we know is not very forseeable...
Now, back to nudging my boss towards buying a 3D printer...
