I'm working on a range of 15mm wargames figures for fantasy gaming. My intention is to create models that are clean and crisp at 15mm but have character and lots of variety. This is a sample set of wild orcs with paired clubs, complete with a leader, standard bearers and musicians. I'm hoping to create a varied range to enable gamers to quickly create large scale armies for massed battles. Check out my design board in the forum for more work in progress, there's lots of it The concept of Hordes is simple, figures are created in the same way as plastic kits, allowing me to produce lots of variety quickly. www.keepandshare.com/doc/3055196/wild-orc-horde-1-pdf-august-6-2011-8-54-pm-2-5-meg?da=y

Those look great! The style is really fun. I'm experimenting with bits and pieces style character construction for my fantasy and dark ages line. It's kind of engrossing to mix and match the 'bits'.

It's like the original WH40K space marine box set all over again! I needed orcs for a big wargame we were planning and there just weren't enough available..... I think there's a big gap in the hobby for large scale regimental sets. I've looked at what's available and the best stuff (particularly yourself, Labrat and Darkmook) is stunning, I'd compare it to Display Case miniatures, the problem for me is that I also want the massed regiments and they aren't going to arrive qickly enough with so few artists producing them. This will improve as the ranges expand, but I'm going to give massed 15mm wargaming a prod rather than just waiting Your Serene fist range looks great at 15mm ..... we are using them as a Nippon army in our mighty empires campaign. The Kappa are my favourites so far

I've been sort of thinking of approaching the dark ages line as a regiment set, but it is kind of slowing me down in the production (doing research of the era, etc.). I have picked up a copy of Field of Glory and wondered what specific minis would be appropriate for wargaming. I used to play 1st ed. Warhammer, but that was very loose skirmish rules. What would you suggest?

Sword or other hand weapon and shield spear and shield bowmen Great weapons (swords and axes are most common in WFB). Two hand weapon armed 'ruffian' (not particularly realistic, but a core troop in WFB empire armies) Most of these would see service in Empire, Brettonian and even Chaos armies (Maybe a layer of tentacles and claws!).
For historical games..... add slings, javelin and throwing axes, not forgetting peasants with farm implements!
For WFB in particular the command group is important, a distinguishable leader (but not a hero) a musician and a standard bearer.
