Lately my Epson T23 has been getting on my nerves. Print quality has been decreasing, ink consumption never was too good to begin with, and now from time to time it fails printing so that I end up having to perform nozzle checks / head cleaning which spend even more ink. Mind you, I only use original ink cartridges, no recycling or alternative brands.
So I have started looking for other reasonably cheap home inkjet printers. Around here color laser printers are still quite pricey and then there's the matter of the printout being prone to scratching as I read in other threads.
I was considering some Canon Pixma models but after reading a report from kiladecus I'm not so sure. So I'd really like to hear about your experiences and advice with printers.

My HP 2610 has been very good and reliable, but it makes a horrific sucking sound while the ink cartridges siphoning money out of my wallet. HP makes good printers, but their ink cartridges are just too high. My next printer will probably be some kind of Cannon or something that can easily be upgraded to a A continuous ink system.

I have to agree with Tommy.
I happen to use both an old Canon S600 & an HP 6500n, and I can't say I've had any complaints with their quality. I've even avoided the scaling issue that some inkjets seem to have.
I guess all I can recommend is to be sure to check places like Tom's Hardware & CNet for reviews once you get your choices narrowed down.

I use an old Canon BJC-240ex. The cartridges are hard to find but I have had some success refilling them. I have found the cartridges cheap where someone was trying to clear old stock. I have also seen them for a premium because they are hard to find.

Canon Pixma MP560 here. The ink cartridges are nowhere nearly as expensive or short-lived as my old Lexmark. The Pixma was the best compromise I found for cost and quality.

HP OfficeJet 8500 Pro with CIS and secondary tray, good All-in-One printer and good overall quality. I tend to print in draft quality, and I havn't really kept an eye on it's consumption rates, but it's bound to be low. Also, I got a good offer, including a 30€ fuel coupon.
