This is a great game. I recommend it.
Any of you played it yet? What do you think?

Not in my FLGS yet, but high up on my list. The video makes it look great (and easy-perfect for the grand son).

I really do think it looks like fun and I don't even like Star Wars. The problem is I have other boardgames on the "buy" list first. So does this mean you are going to do a custom space map?

A buddy of mine is really getting into it, and our FLGS liked it so much the owner commissioned a 4x4 Death Star table. I haven't played it yet, been focusing too much on the new SW RPG, but probably will soon (meaning that much more $$ blown, I'm sure).

The prequels and Lucas' constant fiddling with the original trilogy have ruined Star Wars for me. Sadly I just couldn't find myself running anything or playing a game in the Star Wars universe. That said, I remember in high school when a friend of mine wanted to play Star Hero in the Star Wars universe I had to decline after I sat down and realized I didn't have any stories to tell in that setting. I just couldn't think of anything that I wanted to say about the Star Wars universe that hadn't already been said.

You know me. I'm developing a print-and-play Death Star Trench Run scenario. I'll have a new version ready in the next day or two, and I'll post it here. Here's a precious foto of actual play (trench run playtesting) at my house: The ships have 40mm square bases, if you're wondering. The ships are supposedly scaled precisely as the movie models were, so the TIEs look a little bigger than we might have been led to believe through RPG books. (I've watched the Battle of Yavin a million times in the past week, and the scale seems correct. TIEs are about as tall as X-Wings are long.) The prequels very nearly ruined Star Wars for me too. It got to the point where I'd say I was an Empire Strikes Back fan. But this is all classic. X-Wings, Y-Wings, TIE Fighters and Darth Vader's TIE fighter are what they've got out for it now, and there's a lot of fun packed into that. The customization options are super easy, and very cool. The minis look excellent. I really can't say enough good things about this game. The next wave will the Falcon, A-Wing, TIE Interceptor and Slave I (Boba Fett's ship). After that, we don't know. But the foreseeable future is all good and lovable stuff. If you're not going to be on the competitive scene with this (and I never am), there should be no worry about prequel stuff, which seems like it will be arriving in some form, sooner or later. I don't know if we'd see prequel stuff under an "X-Wing" name, but who knows.

HA! A gamer buddy sent me the link to the Trench Run PDF you posted at Board Game Geek, but I didn't realize it was yours.
We'll try it out as soon as we get enough models for the scenario, I'll let you know how it goes.

I love this game. WE picked it up at GenCon and played it a few times since then. I have a few pics of a game that we played, for anyone that is interested, here: s62.photobucket.com/albums/h95/Eisenhorn90/Malifaux/Just the first four pics in that album obviously. It was a "Low Orbit" conflict on a desert planet, the Rebels were trying to escort a transport across the field but failed. Love the trench run stuff, might have found what I'm doing this weekend thanks!

ORLY... Very interesting. Ok, I just bought this, thinking that I could get creative and do some veneer layers on mat board or foam core, but I just printed off one page at high quality on GP110 and it actually looks damn good just by itself. The shadows are just good enough that from back a ways, it has a pretty good 3D effect. I think if you were super careful about making the edges even, this could make a pretty good-looking larger table.

I'm offended by the pricing. I'm not so much in "money-sink" games ('cause i have no money to sink ) I have about 1000 Magic:TG cards, which are all leftovers bough in big lots between '95 and 2004. They're good to make 4-5 decks which are good only one against the other (i will be killed in 2 rounds having i to play against a "pro" deck). Still, it is fun. The only "collector game" i have is Heroscape. At the time, a complete "wave" (4 blisters of miniatures) was 48€. Some worked better in multiple copies, but anyway you had, for 12€ per blister, and average of 5 new miniatures and 2 new "units" to play with. I've expanded Battles of Westeros and Memoir. But 40€ for 3 model in the main box, and 15€ for a single model in the expansions is insane, imho. To play a decent match with four players (my gaming group is big, we always play 4 to 7 players games), so say 3 models per player, i'd need to spend more or less 180€.... I'm happy that someone can afford it. To me, it is just crazy.

I agree with Parduz about money sink games. Cheap paper knock-offs are totally the way to go.

Parduz is right on the money (this is the correct American expression, right?) in this.
Too much money for too little little ships. And the way taxes/customs/Exchange rates ( the dollar costs two Reais, the customs tax on toys is 60% of the price PLUS shipping! ) are set up, I doubt many units will be sold here in Brazil. Certainly they'll not be sold to ME.

I used to play Silent Death and really enjoyed it. Can anybody compare the new X-Wing game with Silent Death for me? Thanks!
Have fun! Steve

As a child of the 70s, I am a huge Star Wars fan, and being able to fly and fight with these great space-ships, I am really interested in this game. I also like any "add-ons" you guys come up with, like the death star trench. Great work on that one.
