Okay. I'm new at this. I downloaded the widows house and it said i could unlock the layers, however i don't know how or what program to use. I tried photoshop, but it pops a box saying to enter the password and does the same thing in illustrator. Can someone help me, my husband would really like these models made up for his gaming night.

Layered PDFs are for use with Adobe Acrobat Reader, available as a free download here: get.adobe.com/reader/. Hope that helps.

Yep, all you need is Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free from Adobe. (Some other PDF readers can handle layers, but not all of them. Acrobat Reader is your best bet.) Check out the Instructions PDF that comes with any of my models. It'll explain how to find the Layers Palette, and how to turn the different layers on and off before you print. It's really easy, but only once you know where to look for them! If you're still stumped, just let me know. We'll get it sorted for you, no worries.

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader 11 but the layer 'eye'con doesn't show. I am not the expert on these tools as my husband just bought them (for me). I went to View, show/hide, navigation page, layers and it brought up a blank side screen titled layers. I can't figure what I am doing wrong. Since I am novice at Photoshop, I am afraid to purchase the pdf files. Any suggestions? thanks bunches

If you aren't familiar with Photoshop, I do not recommend buying the PSD versions.
For the PDF versions, make sure that you are opening a multi-layered PDF, and not a single-layered PDF. Some of my stuff includes layers, some of them don't, and some include both.
The layers are all found in the "Layers Palette" which might be an icon that looks like two pieces of glass kind of stacked up. Click that. Click the "+" next to the words "Layers Palette". Then you will see a bunch of different layer names. Next to those layer names is a box. Click those boxes to make the layers visible or invisible. When they are visible, a little "eye" icon will appear in that box.

Well, I've opened every model that I purchased in the bundle, but the layers refuse to display on all of them. I've clicked the icon for layers in each model but nothing displays. Would have on my computer Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Should I Sonce I wantto purchase other models, should I purchase the ones I can get in PSD files and work with layers that way? Your directions have been very clear I think there is something wrong with what is loaded on my computer.
thanks for all the help your trying to give this novice.

No, if you are not familiar with Photoshop, I would not recommend the PSD versions of my models. They are not necessarily set up for easy printing, and may require additional manipulation before they are ready for use. They are "source files" and they assume that you already know how my layers work, and how layers work in general.
I'm sure that you are just missing one step in the process of opening the layers in the PDFs, but I don't know what it might be. Since my explanation is not getting you there, try a Google search for "how to open layers in a PDF" and it might give you a clearer idea.

hi Trisha
Let me see if I understand correctly how you are doing this.
1. open the PDF copy of the file (that contains layers) in Adobe Reader.
2. Click on View, Show/Hide, Navigation Panes, Layers
3. This should open the layers menu at the left of your screen
4. This side screen is labelled 'layers' and looks like it is blank, but you should see a label below the word 'Layers' which say's 'Layers Palette'. At the left of these words you should see a small white box with a '+' sign in it. Click this box and the list of layers should drop down and fill the big white space you are currently seeing.
5. now all you do is check and uncheck the boxes next to the layer names to get theh effect you want on your model.
Hope this helps (based on adobe reader 10)
Mags.

I found out why the levels don't show. when you pruchase the bundles they don't have layers. Due to the sale this week, bought a lot of models separately from the bundles I purchased. All those work. Maybe this should be mentioned to RPG Drivethru to put on the bundled packages.

Which bundle did you start with? The Budget Bundle does not include multi-layered models, and this is noted in the product description in a couple of places.
Other bundles may include a combination of multi-layered an non-layered (or what I sometimes call single-layered) models.
