Here's preview of work-in-progress set: EASY Sci-Fi Portals (Permes Easy Scenery Series).
The idea for this set comes from dcbradshaw - THANKS!!!
He suggested "portals, like science-fiction/fantasy style circular portals with bases. Like the Stargate wormhole, or fantasy summoning portals, etc. They could be vertical on a base or horizontal for laying flat on the table."
During discussion we agreed that it would be good idea to provide separate sets:
- Sci-Fi / PostApo Portals
- Fantasy / Horror Portals
(Well I'm considering also idea of EASY Summoning Points / Stones Set - again both Sci-Fi and Fantasy but that's another story:)
Anyway I liked the EASY Portals idea very much and after couple of weeks some first versions might be considered as ready for testing.

Beta model by dcbradshaw / gunslinger is one of David Okum's / photo by dcbradshaw - thanks again!
Set basic assumptions:
Firstly - models should be quick and easy to assemble, it's EASY SCENERY series after all!
Size
As you can see on preview portals are quite tall - ca. 70mm. The idea was to provide possibility to put typical 28-30mm figurine into portal (vide small blueprints on preview bottom).
15mm - as there is no very small details and shapes are rather easy ones to cut, these portals should be good also for 15-20mm after rescaling / printing with lower size.
15mm TEST BUILD
IF there is someone who would like TEST BUILD some of these portals - just drop me a line in PM - some photos would be highly appreciated of course.
Color / Texture versions
There are (so far) 5 basic portal versions and each should be available in at least 3 color/ texture versions (metal, rusty metal, some sci-fi related colors?)
Interiors
All portals already have some kind of "interior" - which can be cutted by modeler if needed.
I'm considering also additional pages with just interiors - so users would be able to replace these premade ones (or even use these as slide-in/slide-out ?).
Bases
Portals are sandwich-style (flat) big figurines in fact. But I've added specific bases - you can see it on beta preview- which matches shape and color / textures of portals. These bases are parts of figurine (connected to figurine's main body).
Still users can just trim these bases and use their own preferred bases.
Perhaps it would be not that bad idea to add some basic separate bases as well?
2.5D Accessories
There will be additional stairs / walkaways / traps - which could help to add some more dimensionality => 2,5D
Plus should result in portal's better overal stability.
As you can see (preview's thumbnail-sized portals) the central part of each portal is standarised - so it could be easier to add/use optional parts and kitbashing/modding.
Actualy there is at least couple of ideas how to use these optional elements - perhaps it would be possible to post some photos (dcbradshaw?)
Mod-Kit
Not sure yet, but I'm considering additional elements - like all these "triangles" in various colors etc... so users can modify these portals according their preferences/ needs. But that would require also "plain" portals versions (without these parts), which would add another ca. 10 pages to final file.
So perhaps it would be better idea to provide SEPARATE set with:
a) color Mod-Kit
b) BW line-arts, so users could color according their needs?
OK, just hope that I didn't bored you to death so far...
=>>>Well, any thoughts?
PS. Sci-Fi trooper as seen at preview is not included, at least not within this set
