"0 hr: art & technology" ( ex Ki Ryn Studios )
Honestly, I didn't follow much this undipendent producer. I saw his new products on RPGNow but I was not very interested because I thought I had already I needed with the old ( but still really good ) SKG and Ronin Arts tiles and deckplans.
Until now.
My fault.
A few days ago, while I was looking on Kickstarter for support some good indie products I saw the second "0 hr" funding campaign. The "Free Trader / Grendel - Starship Deckplans" poster ( )
Ok, I pledged only 5 bucks ( and now I'm sorry, it's too little ) because I prefer downloadable products and because I have to follow other ongoing kickstarter campaigns.
I think the only real and true kickstarter's value is the support to new ideas, to independent producers ... not the big companies' commercial risks elimination, producers that use it as a pre-order ( and the users who see only the commercial aspect ). But it is. And this is OT. Sorry.
So ... Grendel poster.
I loved it. Colors, design, setting, layout, technique ... Everything comes together in a unique artwork.
As Ebbles' vehicles, as an example, are the top of carboard sci-fi models' quality, no ifs, ands or buts, so these deckplans are definitely at the top of their category. Imho.
With the digital poster are also given away for free two "Future Armada Deluxe Starship Designs" products. The "Midnight Rose" and the "Wayfarer". ( they are on RPGNow: www.rpgnow.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=606 )
In every zip file there are some pdf files for color map, B&W map, statistics, variants ... and several digital images and artworks in jpg format.
Color maps designed for miniatures, divided up into printable pages, and as poster-size images where possible.
Uses the Open Game License (OGL) and sci-fi System Reference Document (SRD) to provide familiar stats for ships and crew - though the models, maps, history, and interior descriptions are completely system independent.
I was so satisfied that I renewed (aided by the current discount campaign on RPGNow. It ends tomorrow) all my deckplans fleet. ;D
All 19 products are of excellent quality and I am satisfied with them all. But the best ( if there could be one better ) is the newest product. The first Armada Codex issue. The "Renegade starships class - Corsair" ( www.rpgnow.com/product/111655/0-hr%3A-Renegade?cPath=1607_9904 )
The Renegade package contains three highly detailed, layered PDF files:
Main Book
Map Pages
Uncut Map Image
All true! And the multilayered PDFs' use is excellent. So if anyone is interested in this type of product or even just interested in excellent graphics and artistic sci-fi products this is a chance not to be missed.
On the "0 hr: art & technology" homepage ( 0-hr.com/ ), in the "Starship Deckplans " section there are pdf demo for all deckplans, bonus tiles, errata, images, okens for use on battle mats ... and more ...
Thanks for your attention.
PS: the next "0 hr: art & technology" kickstarer campaign runs in April. Don't forget it, don't miss it.
