Hi Zygrott,
These look very good. One never really knows about shading and brightness until it is printed out and there is some personal taste involved. Big Jim used to say (paraphrasing)"hold it at arms length and squint, ask yourself if it still 'reads.'" You will need thicker outlines, of course. I think the tails are a little chunky so I would suggest adding the "outline" to the inside of the tails. On the other hand, I think the drool coming out of the middle rats mouth is going to be too hard to cut out or get lost in the outline. I suggest more drool, but you could also cut it.

I'd say more drool is better. Welcome to the Hoard zygrott24!

Play with dark shades of gray, then go for the darkest you feel is acceptable. When I think rats (with a name like Vermin King, you know I do) I think of hordes of rats. Your individual rats look good, but the masses of rats will probably be most useful to me.

Heheh, I feel the same way, shep . I'm still working away at my pumpkin patch, but my little contribution got far more complex than I'd originally planned, for many reasons. I'll not make today's deadline for sure; tomorrow? Maaaaaybe. Scanner's still out, and trying to bulldoze my way through Gimp doing a digital-only version is more challenging than I'd hoped. Plus the scope has increased, from one-sheet-wonder to modular tile fields, ready to be planted & harvested with multiple crops I'm sure this is sounding familiar to those papercraft publishers of ours...

All in? Giant rats, rat swarm, and lich girl for certain. I'll prop the door open for the rest of the day just in case a zombie fighter, shroom brute, and flesh golem detective want in but their creators are trapped underneath heavy objects..

OK. Not sure how this all works... Here's some Halloween shrooms. It was a bit of a rush job, but it's the best I'm gonna be able to do tonight.

Excellent, that's more like it! I'll get these put together today and see about getting a group photo done this week. Thanks all for playing, now go make some mutants.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! And especially to my co-Canadians More than a little late, but more than a little revamped. A pumpkin patch/garden plot/wheat field/corn field tile for your enjoyment, using the grass and dirt textures from One Monk's base page (all credit to the mighty Jim Hartman, and thanks to Squirmydad for keeping the dream alive!). This ensures that they will work perfectly with One Monk's Halloween Harvest Prop set (zip file here). It's designed as 7" x 7", 300 pixels per inch. You'll likely have to test it out on your printer to get the best measurement. Picnic Adventures! Pumpkin Patch Map-TileWhy 7" x 7", rather than 6" x 6" or 8" x 8"? Well, this way you can slice off one or more of the grass margins and have a battlemap spanning multiple tiles, yet still have a usuable stand-alone tile. Four tiles will yield a 12" x 12" field, six tiles a 12" x 17" field, nine tiles a 17" x 17" field - and unless you plan on leaving the fields fallow, you'd better stop there Since the One Monk crops are 3" long, one page of wheatfield or pumpkins will yield 24 linear inches or 120 linear feet of crops, one page of corn-rows will yield 12 linear inches or 60 linear feet of crops. A single tile can accommodate four (in-line) or five (off-set) rows of crops per page, so plan & print accordingly. You can use One Monk's bases that are included in his set; they'll match just about perfectly if you want to place or glue them down onto the tile (see how well they'll blend below). Alternatively, you can glue the tile(s) down onto foamcore board (preferably black), and cut slots to accommodate the crops' tabs, like Okumarts bases his minis. You can also crop (tee hee) the tabs somewhat, so you don't have to slice the whole length into the tile/foamcore. In the next couple of days I'll be presenting a much more elaborate version of this project. Let me know if there are any tweaks you think it needs, or if you'd prefer another or no grid for your tile.
