Looks really good. I like the "new" proportions. I think maybe more of his real shoulder should be seen under his epaulettes?
On a personal note can I say that the history of swords (at least in Europe) was to get more and more complex hilts that offered the hand more and more protection. Several of the medieval sword manuals start off with a picture of a guy getting his hand cut off, so you can see why a better guard was appealing. Besides having the sword plug in (presumably to a large power supply) might I suggest it could also get a force shield guard? Just a thought.

Both variants of proportion are nice but Warhammer-y proportions have something in itself.

More work on the space samurai. Plans for the rest of the set are slowly taking shape in my noggin. Definitely going to have a wizened monk-type character and a foot soldier of some sort. cowboyleland: I haven't forgotten about doing some sort of hand protection on the laser swords That's up next.

Space wizard sketch! Slowly but surely knocking these things out.

Progress on our space wizard! Although I guess "space monk" might be more apt.

I'm about to google rapier hilts for another project myself. A bit late, but also check out "Schiavona" - they were among the most ornate and elegant backsword hilts.

Since my progress on them has been absolutely glacial, I decided to put a couple of the space samurai up on DriveThruRPG for free. Get 'em here! And I'm also working on some non sci-fi stuff for a change of pace. I really want to do some more monstrous creatures like a war mammoth or something in the future.

He kind of looks like a brown elephant. Can he be shaggier?

I prefer the howdah on the shaggy mammoth too - the first one looks a bit like someone has tied a rowboat to the top of a small elephant.....

I prefer the howdah on the shaggy mammoth too - the first one looks a bit like someone has tied a rowboat to the top of a small elephant..... I'll be honest - I thought it was a rowboat on a small elephant too, but my reaction to that was "Bloody Brilliant!" I mean, if I needed a big saddle for my elephant and I happened to have a rowboat, why not use the rowboat? Clearly I'm heading off to do something that, if it doesn't work out, I won't need the rowboat again. Ha ha ha. EDIT: P.S. - Thank you for teaching me a new word today! It's pronounced just like how the movies portraying Bostonians would have me pronounce "chowder"

I don't know why I am being so picky about this fig but . . . I'm thinking the circle around the base of the horns(?) that come out of the fur don't really work. It makes it look like the thorns are sitting on top of the fur. I would keep the dark outline around the horn but not around it's base. Just my two cents, which I actually can't give anymore because my former government discontinued pennies.

Progress! And thanks for all the feedback, as usual. The spikes definitely look better without the black outline around the base.

This looks great. I get a little misty when someone takes my advice.(I would put in a smiley but my wife switched the keyboard to German and I canät find the colon . . . or the apostrophe.)

Some more pustules and it would fit in well with a Nurgle Daemon army.

Got some stuff done on the plague elephant's howdah and started in on a mutant mammoth, who is going to have some Tzeentch-esque stuff going on (tentacles and feathers). Still undecided on what the mutant mammoth's howdah is going to look like. Maybe something slightly organic.

Could you do layers and let your customers swap howdahs around?
