As the title implies, here there be WIP miniatures. Whatever project I'm currently hammering away at, I'll probably toss previews and progress reports up here. To kick things off, here's a Bloodbarian from the set I'm currently working on and a Plaguebarian reskin made using the same lineart.

Quick update on the Bloodbarians. Eight minis are finished, two more to paint and then the hard part's done!

Strange beyond. As if he is flying or dancing but this is my subjective opinion.

Strange beyond. As if he is flying or dancing but this is my subjective opinion. Yeah, I was going for "charging pell mell into battle in a frothing berserker rage", but without a base or shadow underneath him to ground his feet he does kinda look like he's taking off for Neverland

As someone pointed out in the case of your Blood Barbarians, the upper and lower body doesn't seem to have corresponding proportions - the legs looks somewhat short. But I see some good potential!

As someone pointed out in the case of your Blood Barbarians, the upper and lower body doesn't seem to have corresponding proportions - the legs looks somewhat short. But I see some good potential! One of my oldest and dearest friends, eh, ex-girlfriend, used to describe herself as '5 foot 12; it sounds daintier than six foot'. She had a 36 inch inseam. I'm 5' 10" with a 34 inch inseam. So I'm assuming that the midpoint of a person's height is somewhere south of the waist. Of course, I haven't done an exhaustive study

^ Sure, I'm not saying that no one looks like that, but it's hardly an expression of how the average person looks. All I'm saying is that a bit more variety in the proportions would probably be worth pursuing.

You're the second person to say that, so it must be true! As I'm going through and adding the finishing touches I am noticing that some of the legs look stubby and I'm adjusting things accordingly, which turns out is harder when you have to do it for both the front and the back art . As always, I really appreciate the feedback!

Thank you. In looking at the last fellow, the midpoint is about belt high. I appreciate the effort on these, and the changes you are getting ready to do. It's more than just lengthening the legs. Trying to keep proportions right and not turning them into giants is going to be tedious. Thanks

I'm working on the next pack, which is going to have some scary demons! This one is just about finished (it was pretty fast, since I just slapped some armor and horns on the free werewolf from last month). I'm not happy with the unnaturalness of the bright red skin, though, so I'll be changing that up.

Do a test print before you do, printers often darken things.

A couple more demons. Obviously they still need weapons and I'm planning on adding some doodads and or danglies to break up all that red skin.

Those totally deserve some 2.5d wings.... Maybe one set black and one set red? And remember, there are different types of demons. Not all should be bipedal/humanoid Might look up Warhammer and 40k Daemons for inspiration, as well as the Pathfinder and DnD rules books (you can get the Pathfinder SRD free from Paizo's website, just do a google image search for the various Demon/Devils you find). You can also look to the Seven Deadly Sins... Those look like Blood, War and Rage Demons... So Wrath would be covered. Gluttony - should be grotesque and over weight, with a wide-open mouth filled with teeth, possibly a long drooling tongue. May have the form of a Pig Lust - should be the physical embodiment of sexuality, and little to no clothes (so you better have some strategic hair/limb/wing/tail placements. Males may have the form of a Goat or Dog I'm combining Envy and Greed: Avarice (Greed) - should have a bunch of jewelry... some overlap with Gluttony and Sloth. May take the form of a Scavenger (Raven, Rat) Hubris/Pride/Vanity - Should look cocky and attractive in a non-sexual way. Fine clothes and a smirk are the order of the day. A little overlap with Lust, but more in physical appearance than sex appeal. Might have an avian or feline form Sloth/Laziness - Should be large and have a hard time moving. Some overlap with Gluttony. May take the form of a Slugs, Snails, or Cats. And then there are other demons... Demon of Pestilence - Bearer of disease and vermin. Boils and sores on the body, rotting flesh. Go wild! And then there's this site: spicyworld.spicyhorse.com/wiki/doku.php?id=cod:codlocationsHope this inspires!

Thanks for the feedback, bluecloud2k2! Wings are definitely a good idea for this pack. As soon as I get the rank and file demons done I'm going to be moving on to some sort of general/leader and then wing options.
As for the body types... I'm trying to keep this pack in line with the Khorne-inspired theme I've got going, which lends itself to more or less human-shaped, musclebound brutes. I was trying to come up with some alternate body shapes that would fit the "Raargh war blood skulls" motif, but all I've got at the moment are dog or wolf-demons, and maybe some sort of living siege engine.
I'm absolutely planning on more types of themed demons in the future, so all your reference material is going to come in very handy sooner or later. I should do a vote or something to find out what people would most like to see next.

Monsters are so much more fun than rank-and-file troops.

Might not wanna put a Warhammer / 40k Choas Emblem on the demon's chest... Games Workshop makes Nazi's look Friendlier than a Bag of Puppies when it comes to anything remotely resembling their IP.

Love the lamprey hand. The eight arrow symbol was "invented" by Michael Moorcock and predates 40K by about 25 years. Unless the monster is also close to something WH has released (I wouldn't know), I think a lawyer would tell you to ignore their letter.

I'm aware of GW's over-protectiveness of anything that even looks sideways at their IP, but like cowboyleland said, I don't think they own the eight-pointed star. The creature design, on the other hand, is inspired by one of GW's newer models from AoS. If it ever becomes a legal issue, I can always just make it a freebie

Still working on these guys after a bit of a creative slump over the last couple weeks. I really want to do something winter-themed for December, but I've got to finish up the rest of the models that are going to be included in the Hellion pack first.

As I was checking the Christmas files on my computer, I came across a pretty cool looking Ninja Santa, and my first thought was 'Hmmm, I wonder if CinderPig might have a Santa Brawler tucked away somewhere'
You must admit it would be an interesting concept

"Ho ho ho, laddie! I'm all outta coal, so ye'll be getting lead this Yuletide!" This is one of the silliest things I've ever drawn, but there's no denying it's been great fun to work on. Thanks for the inspiration, Vermin King! Once I get his back art done I'll put him up for download. I might need to do a Krampus/Ork counterpart for him to fight first, though

It's no sillier than the Ninja Santa. This really is smile-worthy, whether it is silly or not

I've been in a Star Warsy mood, so up next we've got some Space Samurai. Also trying to work on more realistic, less Warhammer-y proportions.
