I have no experience with Automated Cutters except what I read in this forum, but I'm interested in doing a paper project that instead of having pieces all the way cut out of card-stock it has perforated lines so that it can be punched out by hand later. Does anyone have any experience or input regarding whether an Automated Cutter could do this?

There are multiple cut line styles and you can do things like manually leave breaks in cutlines etc. might not be perfect, but doable.

I've watched some videos that show a sticky mat or something. It looks like that might make it difficult to pull the page back off without leaving the punch out behind... would that be a problem, or is there a way around that problem?

The mat typically isn't so sticky that it'd be a problem. If you've got a loooong edge with only one small connection, yes it will be delicate. But if you had a couple small points of connection it would probably be fine. It would take some trial and error I'm sure.

I've done this often. It's easy. Recently I did it to make glue punch-out-and-fold Christmas Trees that were meant to be hand decorated before punching out. Worked great. cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/7383/cutfiles-fold-christmas-tree-laferriere I make the cutfile completely (test cut and build), then I use the "eraser" tool in Studio and nick little breaks into the outline every so often. You can just eyeball it.
