Hrumph, I thought I invented it. I can post some pictures as soon as my son is finished playing League of Legends. Meantime I am working on the instructions. I found it useful to label "the core" as such, so I will be reposting a slightly modified version soon.

I'd sure like to see this guy I know you are busy right now Vermin King, so no rush, but when you get a chance I would really like a link to a model using similar techniques. Then I can maybe make a leap forward without re-inventing any more wheels.

The rolling technique is also used quite frequently on model railway building models for features like chimney pots, and has been for a very long time (sorry cowboyleland ).
