Reposted from Will perry; Many of you have enjoyed building some of Rick's designs like the Wacky Racers series he did a few years back. Well, he has been moved to hospice and not expected to live more than a week; his step daughter, said he has 2 tumors on his brain, one on his lungs. Just thought you'd like to know.
A Gofundme has been started to cover the funeral expenses:www.gofundme.com/2syc8ackGoogle webdude Rick and you'll find many of his models.

This is terrible news. I don't know him... I had never heard of him until just now. But just after the tragedy of my daughter Maria, I understand the loss. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

If you aren't familiar with him, his archive is at drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By3a5MPIUqbOejhGUHc0dkdOMUkIt was so strange that he started doing all those Adventure Time models and then it stopped without a word I'm going through a bunch of his OLD models. You can also go to PM.com and Zealot and find more models. An internet search for Webdude models will turn up some others. I think of him as sharing a lot of interests with me. Wacky Racers, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dastardly and Muttley and Their Flying Machines. The list goes on and on. And then he did some that are just simply odd. And some are in poor taste. I thought I would do one of his models from 2004 for the Smart Groups Paper Models Design Challenge #2. One page and one piece, but it will be construed as bad taste, though I just considered it to be an odd coincidence. Take a look at his stuff, download some and then go hit the gofundme page

What is this .PDO format his files are in? I'm pretty sure that's the proprietary file format for Pepakura, the 3D software that a lot of people use to make paper models. I haven't used it myself, so I can't tell you how to use it, or if there's any other way to access those files.

jeffgeorge is correct. There are a lot of models done in this format. When you open the file using the free viewer, www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/, there are two screens next to each other: the 3d model and the parts. Click on the part and it shows how it is located on the model and if you place your cursor on the part edge, it will show you the part it connects to and where. I resisted using it for years, until I really wanted to build Hellsword's Doctor Who Pocket Watch, but I like it. You can visually see where each part fits in the whole model.

And per his step-daughter, Rick passed away this morning. I got that info third-hand, so I hope I am not mis-speaking

Since no one is sure what will happen to his models, John Bowden is setting up a Memorial Page on the DGA website to be an archive of his models. I think he is also going to include Rick's repaints. I sent him the Samurai Jack and Brain files this morning

After finding out my WebDude models are missing, I went to try to rebuild my collection. That brain model in the last post was an odd thing when he was not long in the hobby (2004), but very good. It was one that was missing and I could not find in a search. Luckily, I went back through this thread and saw that I had emailed John Bowden quite a few files he did not have. He set up an archive over at Design Group Alpha. Only now John is gone, too. The Archive page triggers some sort of pop-up to download a search add-on, and with Internet Archive down, I can't get to it.
So, I checked through my sent emails and found the one and downloaded it and my Letter version. If anyone wants it, they can message me
Also, the Samurai Jack models aren't on his Google Drive, drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By3a5MPIUqbOejhGUHc0dkdOMUk , but if you want them, shoot me a message.
I really wish I had emailed John more of my collection...
