What game is it you guys are playing with these little Star Trek ships? They look so cool, I may have to play the game just to have an excuse to make a set of the ships.

We're not quite sure yet. 5150 Star Navy by Two Hour Wargames is looking promising. But I also have some ideas for using FiveCore from Nordic Weasel as well (but that will take a bit of tinkering... as I am sure you can tell, I just HATE tinkering...)

How do you feel about GZG's Full Thrust rules? There are a few adaptations of Star Tek and Full Thrust, like this one; ST:FTThe Full Thrust rules are available for free from the GZG site here; GZG rules

I still have to play it, but based on only reading the rules, Starfight may be your ruleset. It is CLEARLY a Star Trek game without the rights to say it It even includes clever Cloaking rules.... I REPEAT: I've just read the rules, not played it.

Is Starfight hex map based? Yep. how easy is it to adapt to ruler-measured distances and round bases? I think the distances would be the easy part, but then you have to convert "hex side" in angles or something similar 'cause you spend movement to change facing, or need to look at what shield was hit, etc, which will be more complicate, imho

If you are looking for a Star Trek skirmish without hex maps, why not go with the masses and buy Star Trek Attack Wing? It uses FFG's Flight Path system with maneuver dials and special rulers. The Attack Wing starter comes with 3 TNG-era ships, and you can easily make your own cards and dials for your other minis. It's the same system that is used for Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures, and I made a load of cards and dials for that, so I can use the ships I bought on Shapeways. Would I not be working on "Engage!", a space battle game to go with Far Trek, I might be using Attack Wing myself...

Thank you all. I have rewritten the excellent FiveCore rules from Nordic Weasel Games for super simple, ultra fast play Star Trek ship to ship combat. As soon as I have permission from the Rulesgiver I will post a link.
