UPDATE: I finished up a couple of these, here they are: OK, so because I am a major Star Trek goob, I play "Star Trek: Timelines" on my phone every now and again. Tonight, my wife happened to notice and asked about the ship I was playing, which is a Constellation class (made famous by Picard's Stargazer.) She then asked why I hadn't made a model of it yet... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! In 1/4000 scale. I hope to print it tomorrow or Tuesday, along with a metric crap-ton of stuff I just discovered by hackbarth. I also think I got the coloring right so it doesn't turn out so dark like my Pioneer-class and Excelsior-class models.

Hmm, nice one, but why are you jumping scales lately? Could you rescale the mini to 1/5000? Always better to do that with the source file than with a pic...

shep: I thought I was doing 1/5000 when I started, but it turned out a lot of my early stuff somehow wound up at 1/4000 when printed. So I stuck with it when I started creating my own stuff from scratch. Let me know which of my kits you would like in 1/5000, I would be happy to resize them for you :-)

So I stuck with it when I started creating my own stuff from scratch. Let me know which of my kits you would like in 1/5000, I would be happy to resize them for you :-) The Constellation and the Excelsior, please. When I do my ships, I first put every thing together and then resize all parts according to the size I calculate based upon the length of the ship as given either memory-beta.com or any other (more or less canon) source I can come up with. As stated before, my models are also not truly 1/5000 but 1/5170. This odd number is based on okumarts Constitution Class. I printed his version on 100%, took a ruler and measured it out. Then I looked at the ship's length on memory-beta and calculated the factor. Now, all I do is divide any given ship's length in meters by 51.7 and end up with the mini's length in centimeters. And to be sure that everything stays as designed, I create the ships in Photoshop on a 300dpi A4 sheet and save the finished minis as PDFs. This way, as long as you print on 100%, the minis will stay in 1/5170...

Is a stargayzey pie a common, regional thing? Can't say I've ever heard of one.

From Wikipedia: Stargazy pie is a Cornish dish made of baked pilchards, along with eggs and potatoes, covered with a pastry crust.
A pilchard is (apparently) a small fish, like a herring. I have never heard of pilchard or the pie until today.

Of course I didn't get the joke! It's Cornish humor. I couldn't even find Cornland on a map if I tried!

Of course I didn't get the joke! It's Cornish humor. I couldn't even find Cornland on a map if I tried! That's because "Cornland" is in fact named Cornwall and is a part of England which is a part of the United Kingdom which is no longer a part of the European Union which in turn covers most of Europe which is a continent on Earth which is the third planet from the central star in Sol system which can be found in the outer regions of one of the spiral arms of the Milkyway, a galaxy to be found in the vastness of the universe... I know that pie (or better said one very much like it) under the name of "Heringspastete". It's a traditional dish in Northern Germany, and supposedly quite tasty, if you like fish… which I don't. ^^
