So I wanted to say a big 'Thank you' to all the members here.
You make this a second home.
I know I'm not all that different than many others here in that life isn't going as planned. Ups and downs and nasty twists in business, relationships and other real life situations.
It is great to be able to come here and unwind.
I want to thank you for your support on my sometimes odd-ball ideas, some of which I actually finished.
I also want to thank all those designers who contribute to our hobby. As such, I just went through Wargame Vault on my library and gave ratings on those selections that I have actually built. I don't want to give a rating or review just to pad the ratings, so I only rated items I've used, but I realized that it is one way I can give back. I haven't hit the other OBS sites, but between now and Christmas, I'm going to hit those as well.
I encourage everyone to help in this project. I know that if I were a publisher, I'd like to see that my effort is appreciated.
I'll have limited access through the end of the week, so I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. And if your locale doesn't celebrate this holiday, I still encourage you to do a little reflection on what you can be thankful for.

Yeah, It's has been a pretty awful year on my side of thangs. Glad I can hide out here sometimes and show you guys pictures of my paper monsters. Also, I hugely appreciate ratings and reviews, your ratings campaign is going to make a lot of publishers very happy

It's not a holiday over here in Scotland - we have a few malts on the 30th for St Andrews Day instead - but I am thankful for the friendship and camaraderie shown on here. And my heart and thoughts go out to everyone - especially you, Punkrabbitt..... Big hugs. As for the ratings campaign - I was planning to pull together as many sets that I have completed as I could and post pics to tumblr, so I can just use links to those as reviews.....

Canadian Thanksgiving is mid-October because by late November our harvests are often covered in snow, but yeah, I'm definitely thankful for the camaraderie here.

Likewise, strange and awful year, what I remember of it that is. :/ Wherever you are in the world, and life, I hope you have a relaxing and fun day tomorrow. We're having Venezualan hot-dogs, pumpkin chiffon tarts, and I'm making a batch of eclairs to share. Hopefully I'll also have time for the French army to skirmish with some Martian invaders.

Something else to be thankful for is my fever is down. Was sitting on 101.7F all day yesterday, but down to 98.4F at 2:25AM and 97.6F now, so at least that's normal for me. I'm going to miss the big community dinner today, but I'll get to the folks' place tonight for chili and potato soup. At least if I can shake this lethargy

And I discovered when I stopped for gas an hour down the road that my wallet was missing, so had to turn around. On the bright side, made it home without having an accident or getting pulled over for anything. I have to at least be thankful for that. That and finding my wallet when I got home

Yeah! for found wallets. Hope you Yankees (and southern cousins) had a good day. From a fellow colonial. I shoveled snow and baked Christmas cookies myself, and regular Thursday game group. Pretty good day.

I am VERY grateful to this community. I would love to play a game or many with you at some point. My New Years resolution is to do more conventions and public appearances.

Well, as a follow-up, made it down there Friday, and my folks had an appt. scheduled that I thought they'd cancelled on my car. Fixed a coolant system problem and replaced the serpentine belt for only $180.80. Shoot, the shop that diagnosed the belt issue was going to charge $265 just for that. Friday night was a long night. My folks dog Brooks and my son's dog Lincoln were going crazy with opossums and raccoons. Then at 3:30, it went absolutely insane, so I went to check to see if Lincoln (the outside dog) was okay, and met this fellow on the porch No wonder the dogs were excited. The shepherd was friendly enough, but was taller than my hip. Still around at 6:30, so I checked his collar and found his name is Cooper and his owners' phone number was on there, too. They called back at 8AM and had Cooper picked up by 9. Cooper lives three miles away, and is owned by some folks whose son was severely burned three years ago. His mom was crying when she let Cooper into the SUV. Zoe's birthday today, so all-in-all, a great weekend in spite of itself

OK, so this is a little late⦠but I have been sleeping off the food, you know?
Anyway, I had some fun at Thanksgiving. My wife and I went to her sister's home for the dinner, which meant I was effectively the only person who was not Mexican (which is fine, no one cares one way or the other but it is important to know for the rest of ther story to make sense.)
My wife's nephew-in-law took a look at my hair and asked if I was the Last Samurai. I didn't miss a beat and said I was the Next To The Last Samurai, and that my son is the Last Samurai. This got a few chuckles from the rest of the family.
So he went on to say no, he was talking about my hair. To which I said, it's an Aztec thing, you wouldn't understand. Lots of laughter at his expense now. He states that it can't be an Aztec thing, because I'm not even Mexican.
"I'm half Mexican. My better half," and pointed to my wife. He bowed his head in defeat to the cheers at my statement. I am really glad that my wife's family is better at accepting me than my family is at accepting her :-)
