Ok, so the Klingons must have some kind of research ships. They may be a bit aggressive, but disruptor technology and warp drives didn't happen on their own. Are there any thoughts about what the Klingons might use for this kind of craft? All thoughts are appreciated. shep and okumarts, I think both of you might have some very specific ideas about this :-)

I would think that a Klingon Science vessel would be better described as an "Intelligence Service" ship. Small, cloaked, able to land on planet. They would be more likely to blow themselves up, taking out the enemy than run. I can see a Klingon Bird of Prey as seen in Star Trek 3 being the basis of this idea, but poorly armed and armoured.

There are no Klingon science vessels. As can be seen in various of the series and movies, Klingons have no specific interest in science or research. Nonetheless, there is a certain progression. Think it this way: Klingons have scientists and researchers, but they will spend as little resources as possible to support scientific efforts. This means that a "science vessel" will usually be a small BoP commanded by some unlucky fourth son of a minor house with (perhaps) high ambition but no real chance to rise through the ranks. And in the end, it all leads to the questions of forehead ridges or no forehead ridges... See the Enterprise Augments story arc, if you don't know what I mean.
