Not sure if this thread has been tackled yet (tried to search for it and found nothing), so I thought I would ask the following question:
What would be your game of choice for a one-off "Beer & Pretzels" type of game?
For me, that would have to be The Hunt/Overtime by Leo Normington Jr. I found this game to be hilarious and bloody. It basically combines Running Man with a lab rat maze. I found this back in the early 90's and played several games of it with friends of mine, and we were howling with laughter by the end of the game (usually about 60-90 minutes). If you search for it on Amazon.com, He is still selling copies of his game. They are original printings of the game and the supplement because the staples in my copy that he sent me were slightly rusted.

It's more a party game than a strategy game, but all generations of my family have recently become obsessed with Wits and Wagers. We played it for the first time a few weeks ago, and it's come out every time we've all gotten together since. It's a trivia game for people who don't know trivia, it lends itself well to teams when the number of people at the table isn't perfect, or when young ones want to play too. The last time we played, my 9-year-old daughter won fair and square, though, beating myself and my 70-year-old father--that was a great moment for everyone!

My regular Pathfinder group plays board games whenever we don't have "quorum" or the shift-working DM is just too beat to run a game.
In those situations my group likes: Power Grid, Euphoria, and Puerto Rico. Pandemic was an old favourite that we haven't used for a while.
I like Shadows Over Camelot but it usually doesn't win in the group voting for some reason.
Lighter games: Kill Dr Lucky and Before I Kill You, Mr Spy
My family likes Ticket to Ride and Discworld
Zombicide is a good game but it can run a little long.

Zombicide is a good game but it can run a little long. Haven't tried that one, but that is why I am making the Shellendrak Manor for Zombie Manor for one-off games.
