Ermmm... that was amazingly fast o.0 Thank you. Should I experiment with cloth tops for those? Once I had a mostly clean solid color, getting rid of artifacts from the jpg, It is fairly easy to do other solid colors. It's getting rid of the junk colors that is a real pain.

I'm not sure cloth tops were used in WW2... less than 200 Beetles were produced for the military, and the 50 or so released for civilian use were all snatched up by the VIPs.

I was thinking like the kubelwagens. There was a Hanomag and Trabant version of the kubelwagen that I thought the Beetle might stand in for Or ...

Actually, I'm pretty well caught by the virus again. Can't concentrate on anything right now. Let's just assume that VW Command Cars had solid roofs

Wow, that's fast. And so many different skins! Great work!!!
Was the Kübelwagen "related" to the Beetle?

The Volkswagen Kubelwagen was. When @coyotepunc mentioned how few Volkswagens were built during the war, that is because the factory was put to military use, making kubelwagens. I don't know what percentage of Volkswagen parts were used in the Kubelwagen. But 'kubelwagens' were also built as Citroen, Trabant and Hanomag variants in their respective factories. But the classic Kubelwagen was the VW. When they sold the Thing in North America, it was said that it was a modernized Kubelwagen. Things seemed to be much larger than the Super Beetles at the time, so I don't know how much carry-over there was

Has anyone built an EZ Build? I was looking at the brown one trying to see what needs to be done to make a Kurogane Type 95.
The Kurogane should be at 78.3% of the size of this by wheelbase. Is that buildable?

VK, Thanks for the Bug fleet! At one time, we had 4 Bugs in the family. My 3 kids each had one and I had the forth one. I kept a spare engine in the garage (I bought one in a junk yard and rebuilt it). When something went wrong with one of the engines, I would remove the engine and replace it with the current spare (took about 2.5 hours including set up and clean up). I would then rebuild and upgrade the broken engine. I had access to a great machinist that would bore the heads for me and I would install a Big Bore kit. I eventually worked through all four cars and we all ended up with 1800cc engines. That probably was not the smartest idea when 3 were driven by teenagers, but they never picked up any tickets. They were all stick shifts, so eventually, all were traded in on larger auto-transmission autos. I wish now that I had kept mine; I had installed an air-horn in it .

When an old friend of mine lived in California, his wife had a hobby. She picked up Porsche 911 engines and put them in Beetles for drag racing. She had fun

On the FH177 Hoard Beetle, I'll take pics as I go along

Wow, none of my work on these is on this computer. Not even my revised simple VW Bug. None of my movie images, none of the WWII versions, and none of my previous work.
I'll collect what I have in the thread and see what it would take to put it together.
EDIT-- I downloaded what is here, and I think that both of the Herbie models are good. The first one is a more correct model, but works out to 1/43 and I would have to really, REALLY want to do it at a smaller scale and be at the top of my game to accomplish it at 76%. The EZ Bild version would need to be checked against this one for graphic corrections. Since the Desert Yellow and Nazi Grey Brown and Bob's Yellow VW's were based off of this one's geometry, the geometry is correct. At a casual glance, I kept the simple bumpers rather than the ones from my first Herbie, but I don't think very many people would care that the bumpers aren't correct, nor care to build correct ones at this scale.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you want to list this as a 1/43, the first model could be posted and there are photos of it successfully built.
If you want the first model at 30mm, I would need to see what can be done to simplify the geometry.
Or if you want the EZ Bild, I need to check my quickly thrown together one and see how it needs changes in the graphics.
Just let me know which way you want me to proceed

Worked at getting a 'clean' VW from the images in this thread. I started to make changes to the EZ Bild based on the more advanced model and had a couple questions, so I looked up movie images again. I think I have an idea for a passable set of bumpers that won't be overly difficult and would be more correct than the EZ Bild bumpers. I just need to find the time to get it together
