This month has really sucked for me in real life. Like, totally sucked. If I get to the minotaur, it won't be done until the 2nd or 3rd at the earliest. Is this too late for the hoard?

No, I have to re-work the two attendees for the Knossos bull leaper, so they won't be done today either, probably.
So tentatively, this Hoard will close Saturday morning 7AM Central Time.

Well, with the new version of Gimp, I can't even copy/paste onto the template for the Hoards without them losing resolution. I hope I have everything associated with Gimp removed from my computer so that I can install a clean copy of one of the older versions. And if I can't get that to work, I don't have a clue what I'll have to do.
This has been a colossal waste of time trying to get 2.10.4 to work. Why would the developers decide to screw it up so badly?
I'm just hoping something hasn't changed on my computer that is interfering with Gimp.
Gloom, despair and agony on me...

Success! A thousand apologies. I wasted too much time trying to get 2.10.4 to work, fixing and re-fixing images as I went along, and still there are elements that I am not going to go back and fix on this. I would have preferred to have true backs and crisper images, but I just don't feel like going back and fixing this from scratch AGAIN. Not great work, but I think they would look good at arm's length.
I even went back and fixed the template from the haziness that resulted from 2.10.4. And hopefully, I can lay out the rest of the Hoard, without botching up the artwork supplied by the other artists.
But it has been a good couple hours, and even had time to fix dinner and feed my face. Great couple of hours

<...> So tentatively, this Hoard will close Saturday morning 7AM Central Time. Saturday... hmm, so there is a (rather small but still) chance that I'll be able to submit stylized Greek diera/birema (greek: diērēs, latin: biremis), just in order to complete with sirens aka harpies - something like below, although not sure whether with or without Odysseus?

That would be so cool. Do I need to rethink the time for closing this? How are you doing on your figures, cmd_line_cody?

All of the current submissions are now formatted! I should have gone back to Gimp 2.8.4 earlier. It's like a dear old friend

Hoplite line art is complete, both front and back (see my previous post). The Thracian peltast front art (above) is complete, but I have to complete the back and color both figures. I could probably have them finished by the end of the day on Thursday.

This picture somehow reminds me of a documentary series I watched as a child some time in the 80's. The show was called something like "On the way with Odysseus" (Part 1 in German: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxJZpn3WDZg), and was about a crew of a modern sailing yacht taking the same route Odysseus did according to the Odyssee. In between film bits of the researchers, they had these pretty cool animations telling the story of Odysseus and his adventures. The picture looks pretty much like those animations did...

As this Hoard's deadline has been extended slightly, anyone seeking inspiration still may like to know today's (2018 Aug 2) Google Doodle shows Mount Olympus with some stylised deities above it (naturally!), in commemoration of the first ascent by humans of the mountain in modern times, back on this day in 1913. Unfortunately, it's only visible on Google from selected places, excluding all of North America, so for everyone who might be interested, here it is: You can find out more on this page, and there's a short explanatory YouTube video, with images of the real mountain as well as the Doodle, here.

Thank you, wyvern. I am in North America*, so I was unaware of it. * specifically Las Vegas, Nevada, which used to be the economic center of all things vice-related...

I am running so far behind. Haven't even printed these yet to do the promo photos. But not forgotten, though it helps to have the old memory jogged This was just a test build, but the designer is looking to refine it and issue. Pretty cool for hand-drawn

Printed and clear-coated. I think I'm going to have to re-think my scale for figures. Figures seem to be getting larger. Yes, the minotaur should be tall, but my Potter figures and bull leapers look a bit 'slight'. I've gradually been increasing scale over the years, and these were done so that a 6-foot tall man would be one inch to the collar bone, yet they still need to be beefier

I will admit that I've been experiencing Scale Creep in my sets. I've been working to keep things more stable recently, but I do like chunkier minis, even in metal/plastic. VERY HEROIC SCALE.

Well, I do most of my figures from photos or ancient artwork. To get those to look proportionately like miniatures, they automatically get 10 to 15% scaled up on width. On the bull leaper figures, I then had to shorten arms and legs, but proportionately they look like figures now. I do wish we were a bit more standardized on scales.
And the characters are the most important part of the game, so I've always felt that scenery, terrain and clutter should be a smaller scale slightly than the figures.
I just don't want my figures to never be used because they don't fit scale with everything else.

I have a particular Klingon from Mr. Okum that is sized to how I want it; I use it as a reference for scaling literally everything else, from figures to doorways to cars.

Had a webinar this afternoon, right about the time I should be off work, so during the webinar I was debating. Do I get this built or continue with the Hut while I remember what I need to do. Might be a mistake, but I'm going to proceed with the Hoard. It's time and passed time to get it done. I have all weekend to sort out the Hut

The flats are all cut out and edged, but I am woefully short on 50mm bases. Next step is the Chimera, but I need to refresh the old brain box on the instructions

Still haven't finished the chimera or made my additional bases. Combination of things. Primarily, the building of the heads. Goat is easy. I've seen so many images of eddnic's dragons, but have not built one, so I did some research on that on the building of the dragon head and the Lion/Manticore head. I have to give cowboyleland major kudos on the blending of the lion face with the manticore. It is very important to impart curvature to the parts before gluing. Looking at cowboyleland's build photos, ignatious's manticore build and eddnic's manticore photos, I don't see any of them building the lion head, the way I perceive it should be built -- edge gluing. I also am going to make one or two internal formers to help hold its shape.

I don't think I deserve kudos. I think I just ran across a compatible image by luck. I am glad my goat head is easy. I look forward to seeing what you do with the lion.

I needed five 50 mm bases, so I took the blank 50 mm One Monk bases and made a page with six bases on it last night and printed. Should be able to get them built over lunch and take photos tonight.

I know it's too late, but still - just another one harpie / siren figurine You need two in the isthmus, right? - so this is the one from the other side of the strait Anyway even if not included in hoard, this figure can be useful on your gaming board - enjoy!
