The theme for this month's HOARD is Ancient Greece This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of July, 2018. Heroes, Monsters, Dieties and Demigods. Temples, markets, and don't forget the ships. Olympus and the Olympics. Oracles and enemies. Shoot. Can't forget wine and the olive industry. Drama, Music and the start of Democracy. Or going back to last month, the Mediterranean Lions and Bull Jumping (Aurochs again) And their enemies. Have fun!

Oh, I'm excited about this one. I've often wanted to run a bronze age / mythic Greece campaign.

I would really like to see a mythic Greece campaign ran. We tried to twice and it just didn't work for us.
As a fan of Piers Anthony's Geodyssey books, carrying the story lines from different ages, early man to the future, if the story is good, the story should translate to any age or location, but in our games, it just didn't work

I have friends who played a classic Greece campaign from their high school days well into grad school. The DM did his master's in the states so they only played once or twice a year for the later parts of the campaign. I played in the regular weekly group with the members who lived closer together so I heard a lot of the stories. The magic in the campaign was all based on recovered Atlantine artifacts, so Atlantis is another angle that would fit in this hoard.
I started a 2.5D chimera years ago I might try to finish for this hoard.

28mm Thracian Peltast (Rough Sketch) When I saw the topic for this thread, I originally intended to draw monsters and mythological subjects, but ended up going the historical route instead (with a little artistic license, of course).

I'm still hoping to do a bull leaper and bull for this one.
Greek mythology is such a cool thing, but Greek history can be just as good. Even better when done right

I think I am going to snap a few pics of my (non-nude) Amazon miniatures, run them thru Ye Olde Cartoonizre, and see if they work.

If you work with GIMP, (or if your process transfers to GIMP) I would love a cartoonizre tutorial.

If you work with GIMP, (or if your process transfers to GIMP) I would love a cartoonizre tutorial. I take my photo, crop it as needed, and run it through cartoon.pho.to/ to get it from "photo" to "cartoon" and then I trim the edges and put on outlines, tabs, etc. For instance, this: Becomes this: One of the nice things about this is it modifies a photo WAY more than the legally required 30% to share it as an original work.

Cool!
BTW: Does anyone have a lead on a goat that is scary enough to not be out of place on the same shoulders as a lion and a dragon?

I use Gimp for that. Filter/Artistic/Cartoon. Take that image and overlay the original and adjust opacity until it looks good and paste. Then I adjust to make it look better, usually adding highlights and enhancing eyes, etc. There might be some promising ones here ... www2.bing.com/images/search?q=evil+goat&FORM=HDRSC2

Cool! BTW: Does anyone have a lead on a goat that is scary enough to not be out of place on the same shoulders as a lion and a dragon? I did a google image search for exotic goats. There are so many breeds of goats with some really impressive styles of horns. Many of them could hold their place on a chimera

Tonight I remembered to save. I went looking for a dragon head on eddnic 's site and came across his manticore. So my chimera is going to be a modified mashup of eddnic 's stuff with a goat thrown in.

Well, I did the build but I'm not taking pictures. There are lots of little changes. The big problem is the wings wanting to occupy the same space as the dragon and goat heads. I will have to sweep the wings back which will help keep the balance because I want to simplify the tail. The dragon neck is fiddly to, but worth it, I think. Now to the dishes.

Harpies aka SirensDunno, will such mythical birdie-like creatures be good for this hoard? Well, perhaps more detailed and colourful... Odysseus and Harpies
