When you added the 'fifth wheel' pin, did you cut a hole in the area where it is located and valley fold the tabs on the pin to glue to the inside of the flatbed bed?

And another 'Oops'. Evidently, somehow I saved the SWAT Blue under the name 'OAP Blue'. Hahaha it's ok! I'll bet that was it, I was thinking that seemed a little more vibrant but I've never actually built a model yet in Mels OAP Blue so I couldn't remember. That SWAT Blue looks good still tho lol. Definitely looking good, also some pretty awesome photoshop skills!

Definitely looking good, also some pretty awesome photoshop skills! The SWAT blue was my attempt at LaGanne Hess blue, but it was a tad bolder and I liked it EDIT-- I'm going to change squirmydad's hitch pin. I'm going to give it longer rectangular tabs, so that it can fit through the hexagonal connection point, as opposed to gluing to that point. It just seems like it could use a stronger connection. I have scored all the basic parts, but I made a new reinforcers file. I'm going to need two cargo reinforcers and no cab reinforcers. I'm going to put them approximately 1/3 of the way from each end. I also made a few other changes to the flatbed bed. I also have an idea on reinforcers for the inside of the flatbed bed

Resist! Resist!
This is the first error I have ever seen on one of Chris's models, and I was trying to decide if it was something I did until I checked out ALL of the Onager's in my stable. The bold panel edge line on the roof of the cargo area is missing from one side. I tried to figure out where I messed up, but then I looked at my other Onagers and saw that it was on the other versions, too. So then I checked files. All of them.
If it wasn't for me doing texture work, I probably wouldn't notice, but now that I see it, I want to fix it. I'll have to decide one of these days, but for now, I'm leaving it as-is

I don't think I would have ever noticed that either lol. Funny enough the Barrels in his Storeroom set there is actually one Barrel that has one glue tab different from all the others on the page, never would have known if I wasn't making cut files for them, hahaha.

Printed last night and cut and folded at lunch. I'll edge and start building the cab tonight, maybe getting to the trailer, maybe

Thanks. I didn't get all of the trailer cut last night. Should finish cutting it out over lunch EDIT-- I did get a bit sidetracked last night. For a more Truck and Tractor version, I wanted to find something from Kansas City. Looked for images of a Boulevard Brewing Truck and a McCormick Distilling Truck and then I looked for Yellow Freight. Actually Yellow Freight was out of Oklahoma City, but their largest hub was KC. But Yellow and Roadway out of Akron merged and the corporate headquarters is in Overland Park here. You still see Yellow Freight on some trucks, but they are gradually converting to YRC Freight, so I think I'll do YRC, but with the orange cab and white trailer EDIT #2 -- Actually, I only have the reinforcers to cut out The trailer is long enough that I think two reinforcers will be helpful as smoosh insurance, and to help keep it square (if that is the correct term for this shape) I hadn't discussed this before, but since there will be three versions of trailers, and not all will be attached, the trailers need to be able to stand when not attached to the tractor unit. I've been thinking about landing gear (yes, that's what they call it). I had an overly complicated idea that used Josh's flat axles and slots in the trailer to allow the landing gear to fold up almost flat against the bottom of the trailer when the trailer is attached to the tractor. I have scrapped the idea. You can see from the second image the number of parts for the trailer, plus you need to add two reinforcers to that. My landing gear required the same number of parts. I am now thinking of doing the landing gear as either a free-standing part that you just stick under the trailer when not hitched, but I am also considering one that retracts into the body of the trailer. That way you don't have to wonder where you left the landing gear. Not sure what I will come up with

I only had one issue in the build, the pin is too long. I'll change the files. The piece between the tracks has a slope to it, so the pin had to be cut down so that the trailer would sit level.
In the first image in this morning's set, you can see the reinforcers peeking through the opening. They are only glued to the bottom. They really were helpful in keeping that long edge lined up to glue straight. I really kinda wish I had done the blue cab and trailer tracks with the white trailer cargo unit, now. I think it would look spectacular.
I had hoped to build my modification of your flatbed over lunch today, but I am way behind. Tomorrow I have a funeral out of town, then work at CFA in the evening. Saturday, I work at CFA from 11-9. Looks like Saturday night after a long day will be my first chance to get back to this

Got distracted looking for a bus model I saw in another forum last week (Search over there requires more than three characters, so you can't search for 'bus')
I did spend some time working on the landing gear. I expect to have more trailers than tractors. I came up with a design that would work with the Onager and box trailers, but not for the flatbed, so I think I am just going to go back to doing a stand for now.

And it is Sunday. Since the trailers that are free-standing will have the fifth wheel post showing, I now have a textured version to be put in the sets. I wish I'd decided on just doing a stand earlier. Now I have to rework the supports I previously did. As these are rough ground units, instead of wheels, the base of the landing gear will be a skid. That's my next item up today. I had previously added a line of credits on my base versions, so I will have to re-create my texture files. No big deal, but has to be done. The landing gear file will not fit on the other pages, at least I'm not seeing where they would fit at first glance, so they might be a separate file. I still have to build the flatbed trailer and start the box trailer design today, too. I'd like to get this project done today. Good thing I am starting early. At this point, I am quite content helping out the GM with whom I work with items he needs for his campaigns, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/9519/blue-dragon-build-thread. His group may get to the blue dragon this afternoon, but probably next Sunday. In the next campaign, the group will be traveling with a merchant caravan, and he will need wagons and horses. You know me. I will probably retexture wagons that are already out there. Then he will need camping gear, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/7468/halp-looking-campsites, but I don't own the sets mentioned except for Dryw's. In the Vardo thread, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/8232/vardos-caravans-roma-pavee-stuff, there is mention of the Roma tents, and by Gabe's description of what he is looking for, I am going to make some of these for him. I'm going to take my fire from cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/9121/hagrids-hut-movies-ii . But the fire ring is going to be printed on bravesirkevin's flat base. There are several crates and kegs out there, but I'm not seeing bundles, so I am going to make a few of these to place around the campsite. The next phase is in a series of caves, he has ground tiles, but he needs stalagmites, so I will do some of squirmydad's rock spires, onemonk.com/squirmydad-dl.html. He also needs open bedrolls. I'll probably just use Dryw the Harper's Back to the landing gear EDIT -- Actually, just built the flatbed

Really loving the over all look and feel, it's like the Onager was destined to have a trailer! I can think of tons of reasons to put it in game too, lol!

I thought I could finish the box trailer tonight, but it isn't going as well as I thought. Little errors kept creeping in, but I am reasonably sure that those are cleared. I thought I might actually get to the YRC design tonight. Oops

I am indecisive on the unloading doors on the box trailer. Should it have the Onager cargo door or be a traditional roll-up door? I am also indecisive on the tracks. I am leaning towards the gray trailer tracks and also for the cab unit. What I am working on is the YRC version. That's a whale of a lot of orange on the tractor if I carry it over to the track housing. If I go with the gray, I think I need to lighten it a bit and carry that same color to the housing on the trailer tracks Here's one of my research images Here's what I did over lunch I used the logo orange for the cab, but I think it should be a little darker

Nice work, I think either color combo would look great! I'm liking the look of the orange on the Onager, it's different but in a really good way. I guess as for the door either one would work great, the Onager one would have a more sci-fi feel and the rollup one more traditional, both technically functional, lol. I can't say I've seen YRC before but it looks good on the Onager!

I'm sure you've seen Roadway and Yellow trucklines. They've merged and their parent company also owns a couple European trucking companies. My gut tells me that eventually, they are all going to the YRC logos

I'll bet I've seen YRC trucks then and just didn't realize, makes sense now too "Yellow Roadway Corporation".

I thought the lighter orange was pretty neat (tho there both really good), I think it with white or a light gray might work? Also the trailer and doors look really neat, and looks like it would be easy to make different versions/companies!

I'll be posting all of the base files (just delete the light bluish gray with the Select by Color tool and paste the template on whatever texture you want, or paint it...)
I'll also post a couple of the other textures, but certainly not all of them
When I said I split the difference between my photo color and the lighter orange, I had my light orange page and the truck photo orange page. I pasted the truck photo orange over the logo orange page and adjusted opacity to 50%. I'll have to make a new logo orange page and paste it onto the page I created earlier and adjust opacity until it looks better. This is way too dark.
I had considered doing all the trailers with Ebbles Gray for the track housings earlier, and I still might go ahead and use it for the box trailer. Just not sure yet.
EDIT --
Or a lighter version of it ...

I did 50/50 and then started tweaking. Ended up going back to the 50/50 Counting the time I finished up my last two calls for the day and messed with the color, I still got the files done in about 30 minutes. The extra time I took to get base files was well worth it. And I have too many texture files. I need to organize them better. I went to where I thought my chrome was and found this Not the one I was looking for
