Printed and clear-coated last night Scored, cut out and started folding this over lunch. Some of the thin tabs have to remain thin, but some should be wider. Fold indications would be almost necessary, color coded as to mountain folds and valley folds

Well, real life is keeping my progress slow on this. Also trying to rethink how to make the build easier. Got more of the edging done over lunch, but not done, yet

When I started work on the Townhouse, I knew that there would be two problematic areas Starting at the back, the extension under the balcony would be 'flimsy'. The addition of my version of the railing will fix that, but the build becomes tricky. I'm actually going to change the arrangement of the parts on it to make it easier to build. The two corner support posts would also be flimsy, which I added the overlay to the front to stabilize. Unsuccessfully, I might add. It is almost impossible to build the posts as previously designed without causing a bend where it attaches to the main building. My second approach was to make the posts separate parts, rectangular boxes with long white extensions at the top. These would run through a square hole in the overhang and glue to the join of the front to the sides. Would be very secure that way. My third approach was to make the front of the post an extension of the front tab. And of course changing the way the other faces of the post are positioned. I would still keep the overlay for additional strength. Any thoughts on this before I change the files?

I adjusted the files with both 2nd and 3rd solutions on the front posts I'm going to have a couple hours today to work on the test build, so hopefully I will have a better idea on what will be the best break off points on the end panels. In the image I based this on, there is a grey-brown version, which is mirrored - garage door on the right and front door on the left. The diarrhea brown version is the same as the red. I think the mirrored version just allows for more connected yard. So, I plan on doing both of those versions, too As far as the front post, I really think it is an architectural element, not engineering. Only there for appearance. There is less overhang on this than on other buildings, so I think that not even having it is perfectly acceptable, but I was trying to do a model of the townhouse, mostly like the image

That is looking very good! I also like your electric auto. Is that your design or a model of a real concept car?

The car is the Nissan Pivo 2 from www.nissan.co.jp/EVENT/PAPERCRAFT/ . I built it as a challenge to myself several years ago. Complex curves in several directions simultaneously. I did the white one so I could use white out to cover the black lines and fill the joins. I then slightly sanded it. I'm a bit of a sucker for things that should not be possible

After squirmydad did the build on the IPO as he calls it, I decided I needed to at least get started on my Fort/Compound/Settlement modules. I'm using the 10-meter units stacked with an offset/overhang to the outside and a raised walkway on the inside. At the corners, laid out so that you can walk from one walkway to the perpendicular one. To completely close things off, I'll have a container on its end, giving it a blockhouse/tower appearance. I'll probably design a 20-foot container for the corners. That or cut off the 10-meter one so that it looks like it is partially buried for stability. Here's the basic module shaped parts No doors, windows, gun slots, gate, or ladders, but I didn't want to forget my concept

I had to try this over lunch, but I need oldschooldm's assistance on fold-flat. I think I can see how it should go together and have ideas on the gate set-up. But it is too floppy as is I think I have an idea for a former that folds flat that can slide into the stacked module EDIT -- I think I will do a solution like shep used on the Palazzo roof. Should keep things locked in place, especially with a former inside I also think I am going to make this a tribute to Tommygun, the king of containers, by using windows, doors, vents, etc. from his projects. I don't think he had a ladder, though, but I will have to check EDIT #2-- Here's the new files ... still no doors, etc.

I was talking to Mom last night, and we got to talking about the Nursing Home, which got me thinking about David, a resident there. David is a huge Star Wars fan, so when I finished the Mos Eisley project, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/7788/mos-eisley-project , I mounted it on presentation board and gave it to him to hang on his wall. I have no idea if it even exists any more, but I was thinking the doors and windows I did for it would fit in well with the Container Fort/Base/Compound. I probably won't have much chance to work on anything until this weekend, but that's the road I plan on taking. Looking through various ladders on my hard drive (I really miss my library on my old computer), I think glennwilliams's free ladder is the one that appeals to me most, but I will probably go with something like this

I'm not sure how I missed this but I really like the industrial park container office, looks awesome! Makes me want to build a container office/shop district!

And that was just a throw-together. Sometimes, the throw-together projects come out better than ones I dump a lot of time into

I really like how it turned out, do you have plans to make any more business themed ones?

I'm going to do the flush ends version of this next, but after that I'm not sure if I'm doing apartments or offices EDIT -- Another thing I am thinking of switching out is going to 30-foot boxes. Not common in real life, but I think aesthetically, it will look more correct. I suppose to make it 'more likely', I could do a 10-meter box, 32.81 feet. 7.57 inches long for the models. If I go 7.5 inches long, that would work out to 9.91 meters for 1/52 scale As I look at photos of the Apartment complexes, an odd thing comes up. On the ground level, there is almost always storage with chain link fencing and gates. Mine will have 20-foot boxes sideways under the stacks of apartments. If there are three double wide units in a stack, each could have a storage unit below. I just think it makes sense to do them this way, even though they don't do it that way in real life Eventually. I was actually thinking the last one would make a good break from from the Rialto Bridge project.

Nice, I like those last two (the green one and blue one), they look really neat!

I still want to come back to a modular apartment complex at some time, but the bottom two, while based on cargo containers, can be done as regular buildings. Just textured as container buildings. They seemed easiest to do as quick one-off projects. The Chinese one at the bottom seems more like an industrial park building than the green one, so I was wanting to do it first

That much greenhouse glass is a bit scary, heat-wise, but I think there is a common theme among the bulk of these - design space outside the containers to make them more livable.

I don't think I have seen the blue Alaska plates before, only the yellow ones. I'll have to keep my eyes open
a mini-vacation would go down real good right about now
