Naturally since I have a werewolf, I need a wolf. This one was designed on a 50mm base. What do you think about the back legs? Do they need an extra thick black line connecting them to the base? I usually laminate my figures so I have no problem with the current design.

I would recommend a more substantial connection between the model and the base... especially for those of us that like to flat-base. You could also include something like a rock or log that the wolf is jumping over to provide more of a base...
The wolf looks really good otherwise, I like the snarl...

Thanks, Dagger. That sounds like a great solution that would work out for all styles. I'll work on adding some underbrush, or something to the base.

Like it. I think you've got just the right amount of grass there that it shouldn't look too out of place even on a more barren tabletop, like a desert or slag battlefield.

Personally I kinda do like the original better. He does look like he is tripping over that rock in the new one. And as for flatbasing, I am a flatbaser too, and had no problem basing the mounted version of King Arthur, so this shouldn't be that much more dificult.
I'm gonna go and test build both with a flat base and compare. I've got a bottle of super thick tacky glue I want to try out anyway.

Ok I just assembled them using index cards and tacky glue, and they both came out great, flat base and everything

I like the new version... the rock and grass add more visual interest. It might look a smidge better if the wolf's paw were in the foreground though... in front of the rock instead of behind it...

Ah yeah, I see what you mean. As it stands the rock is directly in the path of the wolf's back-left foot, so as GOR says it kinda looks like it's tripping on it. I never noticed that before.

OK, Not sure it made much of a change, but I have flipped the rock so it is to his side instead of underneath him. If it still looks trippy, maybe I can move it further back, so the foot is mostly covered in rock or something.

The last one looks giid, but I think the best way to get rid of that trippy look is to switch the grass and the rock. It's easier to imagine teh wolf jumping through the grass instead of jumping through the rock.
But thats just my 2 cents, keep up the great work!

Hrmm. Switching those two is going to take a lot more editing. Since I an going to be on the road tomorrow, it will probably be a while (this weekend at any rate). Easier done than said.... There. Maybe later I can finish my elves.

Whew. Glad I can finally put this one to bed. Steve, I think Jim promised to do a couple of those. Did I see him say he was going to do a full Battle Masters paper mini line? That should have some goblin wolf riders. But since who knows when that 100th set will come out, I'll add it to my list. I still have about a dozen or so in the current set to finish and I really do want to see if I can get more detail and a better line quality after all this. I imagine so, I just have to test and see what works best with my equipment.

The grass is a default Photoshop brush. I used the same on a couple of times on fur, Brushes are really handy, especially if you use the brush properties for scatter and random color.
