Over in okumarts's thread, cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/10249/sword-sandals-paper-miniature-line , wyvern hinted that Charon's ferry would be a good thing. I found far more Roman and Medieval images than Greek, but I did find some images on vases and a bronze statue Essentially, it is shadowolf's Greek ship, only the bow shouldn't be square, but extend out from the boat as it nears the waterline. Also wanted the center deck to be flat. Textures in my view should be dark grey on the hull and the decks needed to be darker and desaturated. Also reduced the size to 80% before changes to geometry and textures. Printed it out over lunch and started cutting out the parts.

The side rails and the stern thingy are fold-overs, so I glue that type of thing first and let things dry flat under weight. Meanwhile, I edged and folded the remaining parts In the build photos, it appears that it is recommended to build the hull, then build the deck and then fit the deck into the hull. I think I will build the front of the hull, install the fore deck, then complete the hull and finish with the remaining deck. I think that will allow more flexibility in case I should need to make adjustments EDIT -- Well, even as I was redesigning the bow, I was wondering how the decks would cover the white where there is a gap on either end of the inner rail fold-over. So before I glued the inner railing down, I blacked out what I thought might be exposed whiteness, and I am glad I did. Before I post this, I am going to make the railing extend farther forward and either extend it back or adjust the inner stern piece to take care of that area. At this point, I am letting things dry again before installing the rear deck. The center and rear decks probably should have been two parts, but this shouldn't be too fiddly. As long as you start gluing this in from the stern. EDIT #2 -- Well, I was a bit over-anxious to see how it works out. It turns out that while the center deck lines up with the bottom of the rail, and the fore deck lines up with the inner bow piece, the aft deck doesn't. It lines up with the top of the railing. I still haven't glued it yet, but at least I can see what is supposed to happen. That front edge of the railing does need to be extended. The stern piece textures don't line up with the hull textures, though the trim lines up. So, I will probably tweak that before posting the templates. I'll fix it on the original while I am thinking about it. Should I darken the decks more or is this good? It's a really nice design all in all. Thank you, shadowolf wherever you are.

Pretty neat. But I wouldn't pay the guy punting it. I wouldn't even fix a price. Not until I got to the other side.

Charon's boat probably doesn't really need a ram (who's going to attack him? Or rather who's going to attack him and think they might win?). Looks great overall, and well done Vermin King! Do we hold off on this till the Hallowe'en Hoard, or can we stretch a point on the "Pets & Familiars" theme?

Or another outside the Hoards offering
The statue has the ram, so I added it. As a waterline model, the ram probably wouldn't be visible anyway, but I added it
