I just finished reading Song of Drums and Shakos and had the idea to go at it "full paper", terrain, minis and all. I did some browsing on Wargame Vault but haven't found any obvious candidates, neither for battle terrain stuff, nor for suitable paper minis. Would you people have any recommendations? The terrain: some regular area (plain grass?), rough area, forest area, single trees, buildings, fences, low walls and hills. The minis: two forces with some infantry and cavalry.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Gwindel figures are great, but his Napoleonics set is 15mm - and I think I'll go with 30mm figures, having 90cm of table width at my disposal.
Bought 2 Walkerloo Skirmish sets, will indeed have to rescale them, as they're 1:32/54mm.
Also bough a lot of Dave Graffam stuff: Ground Tiles (Medieval, Cropland, Garden), Low Walls, Wooden Fences, Outbuildings, Rustic Cabins (both sets).
Mage Knight pine trees are quite a catch, but I'd also need some deciduous tress. Would WorldWorksGames Hinterlands Forest be a good choice?
Will start construction soon.
BTW, I find it a bit strange that no one produced a set like this yet. You know: "All you need to play SDS with paper terrain and figures in one convenient download".
And BTW2, is it me or is Napolenics not that good represented in paper figures?

Sorry, thought I posted this earlier. I'd recommend Fat Dragon's E-Z Terrain sets, especially Forests & Ruins (one of my favourite sets). He also has Overland Adventures and Mountains & Cliffs but I think that Forests & Ruins has most everything you need. Fat Dragon Tom is currently running a Kickstarter, though, and is offering a signifcant discount if you buy the 3 E-Z Terrain sets as an add-on. You might find it worth checking out! FDG Forests & Ruins lists this: Forest Tiles including paths and streams (both 1" grid and no grid) Modular 3D Raised ground sections with interlocking feature 2D Flat bushes 3D Bushes you can hide figures under Bridge Log cabin Megalith stone head (three versions) Stone monuments Coniferous Trees (complex) Coniferous Trees (simple) Deciduous Trees Green (4 styles) Deciduous Trees Red (4 styles) Deciduous Trees Yellow/Orange (4 styles) Full color instructions I'd looked at and admired WorldWorks Hinterlands, but Fat Dragon is what got me into gaming papercraft, and I'm more comfortable with it, and it's compatible with all that I already own. Oh, and Fat Dragon also has a couple of wargaming-specific sets, too bad they are 15mm: Trenches and Bridges

There are also some free resources for trees to be found around here. The forerunner to the Cardboard Warriors, Models & Miniatures in Paper, founded by One Monk/Jim Hartman and continued by squirmydad, has the following: Showcase #4 War of 1812 - it will be a clickable link to "MiP 4 Warof1812 Compilation.pdf.zip" with 15mm U.S. Civil War figures, which are accompanied by nice buildings, fences, and trees. Showcase #39 Outdoor Scenery & SupertanksIf you don't mind your stuff a little cartoony, there is always Oversoul Games (donation-ware). Scroll down to Terrain:Shaun's Palm trees Berry bushes and clumps of grass Bryn's Forest Oversoul's Forest River and Wooden Bridge Stone Bridge(You will need the river from the wooden bridge set!!) Fiddler's Green is still offering a free version of its Spruce Tree, scroll down towards the bottom for the link to the zip file, or click hereEDIT: It's worth checking Miniatures in Paper and the Forum Hoards @ OneMonk.com to see if there are any soldiers that would work for you. Wargaming is not my thing, so I don't know specifics about what armies might be represented.

When Paperworlds.com was still alive there was a member who did all of the forces represented at Waterloo in paper based on Gwindel's figures. No idea where those would be now.

There's not many paper Napoleonic figures out there because there are so many different periods inside the period. Uniforms changed regularly and you run into the whole "that's the wrong uniform for the time we're playing, it has too many buttons on the cuff" crowd. This tends to put off many designers who would otherwise produce them. I don't care personally, but I play Napoleonics at cons and with friends and there are a ton of those guys out there. I dont use the Walkerloo stuff myself as I had already been playing Napoleonic for a long time before getting into paper figs, but I whole-heartedly recommend them for SDS. I love the style and am glad to see someone taking the plunge in producing them.

If I played Napoleonic I'd go with Walkerloo just because they have so much character.

There are plenty of free napoleonic paper figures' sets on the Russian forums ( New Russian forum about paper figures, Fergus' ancient warriors minis ( on Russian "Papercraft" ), Papersolders.ucoz.ru, Yes! Another great russian Forum ( "Papercraft" ) ... ) But these are only French and Russian soldiers' sets. Only free British paper soldiers that I know of are those of Napflatpaper ( napoleonic paper minis by Napflatpaper ). PS: On RPGNow there are also the of Lunik's sets, a Russian producer ( Lunik ). Particular figures but good, imho.

You're in luck, now that Christopher Roe has his terrain stuff posted, you've another excellent resource available (free but I do suggest you leave a tip!). www.genetmodels.com/dioramavignette-aids/There are grass (med/bright green, some yellow), desert (beigey), forest (muted green/brown), iron oxide (Martian orange/brown), snow, and wasteland (greyish) in 1", 1.5", and grid less options, for both flat 30x30" battlemaps and low-rise hills. At least a couple of those textures should work for your purposes! Dave Graffam's stuff is great, as is Fat Dragon as I mentioned, but Genet's ground textures are plainer (high-quality nonetheless) and may serve better as background.

Fat Dragon's E-Z Terrain Forests & Ruins indeed looks like just what I need. Genet terrain also looks very good.
Looking by myself, I also managed to find Lunik stuff (very nice, but better suited for big battles, not for skirmish, I think), Arion Games Napoleonics Set (British only) and Disposable Heroes Set 4. Walkerloo looks like the best option so far. Still have to browse through Russian forums.
Thanks again, people, for all the info.
