I second OpengameArt.org. They have tons of seamless textures for tiling. Some more that I discovered in my attempts to learn illustrator: Just search for "texture" pdtextures.blogspot.com/ www.thepublicdomain.net/www.geminoidi.com I also love creative commons textures(which usually just require attribution to the original artist), but it seems people like the ease of public domain use a lot more.

Well, this is not much more than the texture squirmydad did with the black border for the backside done. I think they are pretty serviceable robots, I mean after the apocalypse you cant really complain as long as they power up, right? Pick the best of them for the horde. I just haven't had time to come back and revise these much. Anyone who wants a crack at modding it is welcome; I can send illustrator or photoshop files if you want. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67457759/Robo08_squirmytexture%20copy.png
And remember, never trust a mutant!

Whoa, that is more complicated than I thought at first. I think I will have to go through the steps a few times to see how it works. Hopefully I will have some time after Halloween. When is the official cutoff for this Horde, the 31st?

I don't mind, especially since in this case I asked for help I think the texture really helps prevent the "flat" look. There are no Shiny Robots after the bombs drop! How did you do the metal texture overlay and highlights? These are only my second set of things I've drawn on a computer (let alone card figures) and I am teaching myself photoshop and illustrator so I am curious as to how you got a nice texture effect with the shading preserved. Is it just a texture brush with the whole upper layer (and multiply the layers)? The mutant took me forever to texture without messing up the underlying shading. Any chance you could send me the photoshop file or something?

Here are some new menacing appendages and a few panel greebling attempts, they are also closer to the ground now . Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to revise these so they still need some work, but I am unsure if I will get back to them by the deadline (work is crazy). Any more advice on the kinds of details that will make them fit the grungy future vibe of a post apocalyptic world is much appreciated. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67457759/Robo07_handvariantA.pngI also wanted to do something with this guy: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67457759/ogre%20clean004%20copy.jpgbut I wont have time . Anyone want to put the finishing touches on a super mutant for me?

Here are the updated brain-bots. I am playing around with a variety of locomotion and hand ideas. Any suggestions or requests?

I am a mild mannered biomedical engineer by day and a long time papercrafter, RPG player, and wargamer. I am trying to end an era of lurking (from all the way back in the Mayhem in paper days if you can believe it) and put some content onto the forum.

I am submitting for the first time here, so any advice or instruction is appreciated. This is a drawing I found on Creative Commons (courtesy of tzunhgaor). It said it was a public domain licence, but I think credit is due. I did the back from the silhouette in illustrator. This is my first ever attempt at shading on a computer, so tell me what you think. I am trying to get the confidence to post my own designs, but they all look flat and unshaded. I am most concerned with how to do the shading so I picked a "simple" shaped golem to start with. Oh yeah, it is totally a costume
