Hi guys, I have finally finished working on these two settings (kind of - I have some more ideas but I need a little break after working on them for a year now). I made some promo pics and I wanted to show you. Maybe they get you inspired to do something similar or just enjoy the pics Here I went with the "Saxon" wall skin of the settlement behind the walls and topped the gate and large tower with a tatched roof. Of course the bad guys also have noticed the nice settlement and want a piece of it.
Bad guys have reached the gate and started to attack. The defenders storm out and also defend from behind the wall!
To keep the men busy after a long winter, in the cool morning of a spring day, the chieftain holds a duel while the druid is spreading the blessings. The poor guy on the bottom left cannot come watch as he has promised his wife to chop some more wood for the cold nights!
Switching to a more "Viking" skin type of the buildings .... Tensions are running high in the settlement when the enemy clan is visiting for peace talks. Better be safe than sorry ... so the chieftain is hiding some guards out of sight just in case.
Dirty goblin forces are forming a siege on the settlement. The heroes have met them outside the gate and are defending the entrance while the royal guard is just exciting the stables and moving out with the rest of the village forces!
Hope you like this. I had a blast taking these pics (although lighting this large area is a challenge). Chris

Maybe I am too much of a modify-er. When I see something, I automatically start thinking how else something can be used. That's a very good approach! I should get Kev to make some proper horse for wagons (and sleds)!

If I get a ton of requests for that I might do the log one too. Unless DnD put's that in an adventure module I don't expect it though

It is very specific. The only generic thing I can come with is a sorcerer/sorceress that has special magic that creates the snow and ice wherever the dogs take her! With that this could also work in the desert

I got asked to create a dog sled for the latest Icewind Dale DnD adventure. After looking into how Eskimo built these I was convinced I could pull that off in paper. Of course a dog sled is almost nothing without the dogs. So I asked bravesirkevin if he would get on board and create some huskies for this project. And he did!
Enjoy!

Really nice. Are you planning some bundles? No, not yet. Once I have the fortifications and the ship done I will probably make one megabundle.

During my tests of the expansion modules I realized that they not only work with the long hall but also with the other "Norse Village Builder" houses! YAY! It's not a big surprise because they all use the same geometry rules but I just didn't think of that before Because of that I will split this all up in two sets. One for the core Long Hall and one for the extensions - in case one only wants to extend the smaller houses. Also because I have received quite a few "urgent" questions about when it all will be released, I have decided to go for a "rolling release" this time. Meaning if you want you can already get the NVB3 (Long Hall) and NVB3E (extensions) sets on my Gumroad and start building with the things I have already completed. Right now it's basically all exterior for the Long Hall and all except the "Saxon" wall skin option for the extensions. It's all described in the product text to make sure and I'll update that. As soon as I have another section updated I will add them as an upgrade (obviously free) and let you guys know about it.
Next week I am going for the extension "Saxon" walls and once that's done I will start working on the interior and whatever would be missing then

I have a 96% finished X-Wing model that I am not finding the time and mental space to finish. Some models and life situations are like that. It'll get done when it's time has come

Here is a little update. I got the extensions for the short wall side done. And I started putting them together
I noticed I need to go over the shields again to add more variety so there is no repetition of patterns but other than that I am very happy with the look so far.
Now I need to create the extensions for the other side going off the long wall. As I can reuse the walls I just need to texture the dormer roof parts.

Stone foundations are extremely rare on these. I think it is great to continue along this line. Late Dark Ages was when folks were building traditional-style buildings except putting them on stone foundations. I am not telling you to not do a stone foundation, but not to sweat too much about getting it done. That being said, I imagine quite a few gamers would build it on a stone foundation... I think Peter Jackson made that a thing when he put the Golden Hall which is inspired by Norse architecture on a huge stone foundation. I think it will depend on what gamers or builders want to depict. A historical Dark Age settlement would just have a plain long hall without much extensions and foundations. A fantasy gamer I expect to pack it all on the table
But you are right, this will be an option or maybe even a separate set for when I have completed everything else first.

Here is a first test build of the core structure of the NVB3 long hall!
I have finished most of the texturing of the exterior of the main house and wanted to see what it looks like so far. There are so many options to choose from already
I have yet to complete the "Saxon" style wattle&daub version and of course the weathering. And then I have all the extension pieces to do for all the variations. But even just the main house looks quite interesting with the texturing! I am starting to think I need some sort of stone foundation too to raise it a bit. I have seen lots of historical buildings without but on the gaming table it would be a nice option to have.

Continuing my Norse theme with this totem pole bit this month! As usual there is a free version and the advanced one for Patreons with many more options!
There are a couple of build options. Just the flat top ... (you could even go for half poles as it is made out of two segments)
... adding some white marked toothpick ends as horns! And the (Thor's) Hammer-head version And I also seem to have not shown you my last years final, the wayside cross and shrine!
Enjoy!

So I squeezed in this new intro video! BTW I am at 91 subs. I just need 9 more so I can customize my channel name on Youtube and have a great christmas

I love those! They are awesome and the middle one looks like the front to the King's chamber in Edoras. That would be a very small Golden Hall but yeah. The Rohan culture aestetics was heavily influenced by Norse culture too, so no wonder they look similar. My favourite showcase mini, the Rohan commander, also doesn't help I want to make some horse ornaments too for Rohan and other horse cultures as an option. I was surprised during research that in parts of Germany there are still houses like that and they also have the horse signs. I am hoping to be able to at least kit bash the third house, the long house into something similar to the Golden Hall. This is the main module for the long house or chieftains house. There will be options to extend in several "directions" Or do it all at the same time! And finally add the deco options!
