This is stuff I'm making for a D&D campaign I'm running for a band of teens - and at the same time, I'm using it as an excercise. It's not something I plan to publish or anything. So no worries, all is good and in the clear.

^ Yeah, I have the same problem. I usually brighten up things as part of the finish. Haven't done that with these, as it was more feedback about my backsides I was after, so I didn't bother to do anything about the colours before posting.

^ Yeah, good point. I actually intended to do the hat tip, but then I couldn't get it right, and when I zoomed out, it didn't look like it would really matter in the end. Haven't tried printing one yet, though. The sleeves crossed my mind, but then I totally forgot all about them again. And yeah, the fingers could use some fine lining as well - hthat is the least part of it. But I'm glad to see that you like the concept in general, and that the backside more or less works. I think it's safe to say that this will end up as a project of its own.

I was meddling around with a bit of photomanip and what have we... and lo and behold, I think I cracked the nut! Here's my first attempt of making a mini with a matching backside... what do you think? Critique is more than welcome. And the mini, if anyone cares to try it out: Have at me.

Maybe it's just at my end - but it seems that you forgot to post a photo of the actual scenery?

That is amazing! Se7en is one of my favourites from the 90's, and these minis sure do it justice.

Welcome to the forum! In the future, I would like to do Three Musketeers featurings Dave's models. That sounds interesting and like something Dave's kits would be very well suited for. I look forward to see what you come up with.

Well spoken! I'm just awestruck over each and every one of the submissions. Makes myself feel very small and humble (and that's not necessarily a negative thing).

Wow! Just... wow! As far as I can judge by the photos, this looks to be up there with the best cardstock sceneries on the market! I wish you the best of luck - unfortunately, being located in Denmark presents me with some of the same problems already mentioned in this thread regarding Kickstarter . and furthermore, I'm not sure how I feel about Kickstarter not minding taking my money, and at the same time not offering me the same possibility to start a campaign - just because I'm not in North America or UK. But I'll be your first costumer as soon as you guys press the big, red 'launch' button - this would be just perfect for a Heroclix battle!

It balances fine, it's relatively small. Just make sure not to glue on the pole too cloe to the edge, and use 300 g card. I used 230 for my proto, because of the small size (I usually use that for smaller stuff), and it's a wee bit too thin. As for base, I prefer to give people the freedom to put it into the setting they prefer mand see fit. But neat idea.

It's a small building for its scale (28 mm), but sometimes it's the small buildings that makes all the difference. And this is the building you can't live without - I give you the Security Checkpoint. If you have anything you want to keep secure - a research facility, a government building, a military base or even a villain headquarter, you will need a socurity control point. Or make 4 of them, and you have a border crossing. Also, it's the perfect point of attack for a scenario. In other words - a small, but important building. I have another question along the same lines as kiladecus: is it ok if said free download of a given submission is also made available as a giveaway model by the publisher her-/himself at his site/OBS/whathavewe?

Well, you sure set the level of competition with that scenery! Great job! Almost makes me want to play fantasy themed games again.

I need 'original designs' explained further - by 'design', are you referring to the textures used, or to the design of the model kit itself? Or both? Both. Re-skinning someone else's model with original textures doesn't work. You can pull textures and modify them for use from sites like www.cgtextures.com/ as long as you give credit; "Some textures in this model were used with permission from www.cgtextures.com/" Peeling somebody else's texture work off of a finished model somewhere also wouldn't fly. Thanks, I'll just use my usual sources - I just needed clarification of the rules for entry. Got something in mind already.

3) Best Model kit - terrain, vehicle, building- what have you, a multi-piece kit. Original designs only. Three pictures maximum to show off your work, download required. Oh, sorry, misunderstood you. Well, it's basically a charity that runs a spoof store with spoof articles. www.superherosupplies.com/If I do it, it would be to donate any earnings to their cause. I just like the tongue-in-cheek theme they have going on.

Maybe the store owners would appreciate the advertising potential financially if you approach them in the right way. When can I throw money at that Dwarven magnificence? Hehehe, I haven't given advertising much thought yet, I have to admit (I kind of figure that RPGNow or whatever their storefronts are called would take care of that). Here to begin with, I'm just curious whether someone wants to buy my stuff at all. But the 'Dwarven magnificence' will be one of the first things I'll put out - I think in a month or so, maybe a wee bit more. No, sorry, I haven't reached that stage of perfection yet. So I'll focus on exteriors and dungeon tiles for now.

LOL. All in good time, for now, it's under development. As an example, here's a 3D model of a test model I'm working on, that won't be for sale (as the storefront used is actually a RL store). It represents the kind of terrain I make pretty good. Apart from that, another project I have in the forge is a 3D tile system, an example is here. But for now, none of it is ready for going commercial - but just give it a little time, I'm almost there.

Well, I'm glad I found this forum, then, because this is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been at other papercraft forums, but cardstock gaming has been gathering dust in a dark corner of all of them. So thanks for the welcome, guys. Nice to read how you look on competition. My products will probably be pretty niche, anyway, and I don't expect this to be anything more than a hobby thing. And I don't have any illusions about the market - if it turns out to be anything other than a hobby business, it's most certainly not on purpose.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'm Danish, and I'm in the processs of starting up a small part-time business (Sidekick Sceneries) mainly focusing on modern/superhero/SciF settings, which, hopefully, should give some of you guys a bit of competition somewhere down the road (if I can actually manage to come up with something that can match your high standards, that is). Basically, I'm here to lurk and learn and to get inspired, and maybe get an opinion or two about the stuff I make. Looking forward to be a part of this place. And thumbs up to how you dealt with 7chan!
