These sound like a really cool idea. Naturally, the choice of system is perhaps down to the market, really difficult to judge. In terms of retro-games I'm enjoying the simplicity of S&W Whitebox, Basic Fantasy RPG (essentially Basic/Expert D&D) and OSRIC is the big fave of the AD&D-ers - all have fairly easy license systems to adapt, whilst nodding towards the original systems. Sometimes I reckon that although everyone is blogging about certain systems that they're really all playing D&D3.5/Pathfinder *grin* Those Micolite systems look pretty easy for a buyer to adapt to their preferred system. I was really shocked today to discover that there's over 500 products on DriveThru that were tagged as being for the "Savage Worlds" system - so perhaps Kildecus suggestion is good one. Just as a general note about fantasy figures in old school RPGs, I struggle to find non-humanoid adversaries for fantasy gaming and D&D/clones are filled with them. I think the problem is that most of the figures I look at are often troops for wargaming (so the same is true on this forum as well). Bring on the gelatinous cubes, basilisks, krenshars, the owlbears, zombie wolves, hmm, perhaps not the best examples, but you see what I mean. That troll would be a classic, however.

Okay, this is strange, why have I not seen or commented on this (2-3 months ago?). *bangs chronometer* *clueless* Congratulations on getting this together, and proving that my plans are adaptable - I absolutely adore the furniture as well as your exquisite figures. I've posted an entry on my IA site here: inkedadventures.com/main/2011/07/stop-press-dryws-inked-adventure-tavern/I hope to be updating my Support and Downloads page soon, so I'll add this as well. (As well as a mentioning that I'll stealing some of your figures for Enter Lairs 2: inkedadventures.com/main/2011/07/514/ ) Nice one.

Gosh, that reminds me, I don't know if this will be of any interest - it's the black and white prep work for a space-hulk style sci-fi game some of the members of Lost and the Damned forum were thinking about making.

Advanced HQ, WHQ, Dungeon Floor Plans and The Warlock of Firetop Mountain board game are all very big influences. Thanks for positive comments, guys. Why do these things take so long, why can't the real world take a back seat whilst I create zee great art!? ;D Dryw, apologies for the silence, I'll be chatting to you soon about figures for the 'Chapel' - I hope. Soon, soon, this will be released - with instructions n stuff.

Cheers SL - thanks for checking out the mugs and t-shirts! I'm sure I'll get around to making some monster figures myself at some point. I'm adoring these by Sammo. Here's a mock-up - may not be exact scale - perhaps it'll be part of the cover (bases not depicted). (clicky) V. exciting, eh?

I was going to put this in New Releases, but it's not really paper related. I've been having a lot of fun posting designs on Cafepress.com - naturally no sales yet (well, if you don't count my own planned purchase list) I've added a dollar to a few things, but nearly all of the money goes to CafePress, so it really feels like vanity publishing. But unlike Deviant Art - I can actually see my designs mocked up on a mug. The only problem is ... putting your own art on objects can be addictive! A variation on the Dice Mug ... Check out my CafePress shop: www.cafepress.co.uk/billiambabble...cos we all need more junk! ;D

Hi guys! I'm really quite excited about these Encounter-Lair Packs (individual titles are still being sifted for clichés!) We have at least four packs being made up atm. Each pack will contain a single page floor plan of the "lair", bundled in with this will be figures from several artists here, namely, Sammo, Dryw and Kiladecus. (apologies if I've been slow on communication - in fact work-life-projects balance has been terrible over the last year!) Click for detail/larger pics. The room above has been populated by Sammo/MossGames - some absolutely wicked warlock/mage/cultists with mind boggling eye-demons. - I'll post some pics shortly (unless he's already been sharing) I'm hoping that this pack will be published very soon. No, really ... ... soon.

A weapons rack would be a very interesting challenge. Or even spears propped against each other.
An altar is a good one. For now I'll stick to rustic or simple structures for dungeons, but four poster bed and maybe even ovens or fireplaces for later. Stone bits: ...a well and a church font/fountain (with optional blood in basin)
Totally agree... all tents have to have campfires.
There's a problem I have with adventurer's camping tents is that they never look very medieval - I think of modern camping. Taller pavilion (? wrong word, I sure) style tents seem too aristocratic as well. Nonetheless my first go is a standard two frame tent. may try a small "yurt" later or a sheet shelter.
Thanks again. Bb

Again, some wonderful improvisations. Cool photos. I think that these sets are definitely in need of fireplaces. There's one in a special HeroQuest-style set coming up. Cork blades? Corks as pillars is a great idea as well. (I try to keep quiet about the fact that small rooms can be cut up and made into larger rooms, in the hope that the need for larger room will make people buy the Basic Set!) ;D The entrance sheet printed well. There's not enough above ground entrances to dungeons in floor plans in my humble opinion. Thanks again, Parduz (and thanks again to Leobester / members of the Italian HQ forum)

I could have sworn someone (verminking?) posted a query about further 3D furniture, but I've been focussing a bit on PMs and didn't get around to answering - apologies.
I think I'll definitely be making more furniture - barrels, boxes and thrones are on the list. It's more a case of getting other projects out of the way first. (There's a coffin, tomb and 2.5D statue in my forthcoming 'Tombs pack)
I had a request for some tents recently. Pillars are also a must.
Any thoughts on in-room 3D dungeon essentials? We've got chairs, tables, shelves, one type of chest and a single bed so far.

Thanks guys, there's quite a bit here for me to chew over. I think I must me just too impatient to learn exactly how to use a piece of software, I always go in demanding a specific result rather than playing about, I was assuming my problem was with CAD concepts, but like Parduz says, it works differently, so I'm guessing it's about "not fighting the program" - which I definitely do, Bhoritz. After my break-up with Paint Shop Pro 8, GIMP just didn't understand my needs, but slowly we worked it through. Ooh - fold-up nets in Flattery - this could come in very useful! Excellent pic, Sirrob. It looks so much easier than scrolling through a whole menu of models. More like Lego! There's so many amazing pre-made dungeon models out there. Actually that base might really help me out, thanks for that. I think I need to be locked in a log cabin for a month with no distractions a broadband connection and pile of microwave meals, and then I'll crack it.

Yup. Sammo seems to have conquered any card curl with that clever glass business as well. Parduz's Hero Quest forum friends have come up with some more pics (I haven't quite organised them yet). I'm posting everything up in my (make-shift) Gallery page on the Inked Adventures site. inkedadventures.com/main/gallery-pikturs/I'm pretty sure that people can tell the difference between my stuff and other elements in the photos, like Hero Quest boards. ;D I'm resisting the urge to write lots of disclaimers about which companies own what - especially if they are genuine gamer/fan/community photos.

I thought I'd take a leaf out of Dagobahdave's book and give Sketchup a try. I could save a lot of printer ink if I was able to demonstrate large dungeons in an exciting 3D perspective (which also prevents direct copying of 2D layouts) ... but I'm finding it very clumsy. For those of us who don't have our brains wired up to a CAD-style way of thinking, or don't want to just make boxes with photos sellotaped to the side, it is very confusing. Maybe I should just use a "skew" tool in GIMP. Edit: the thumbnail graphic is being strange ... click on it anyhow. I may add more pictures here for fun as I climb the learning curve.

;D OhwowowowowowowWOW WOW! These pictures are great! I love the customisations on the feasting table (you see what happens when you let proper cardboard modellers get hold of this stuff ;D ) Okay. Sammo gets a life times supply of free downloads (that probably means two more products at this rate EDIT - by which I mean it takes a lifetime to for me to finish stuff, not that Sammo's life has suddenly been shortened, which would be in very poor taste after him taking such fab pictures! ;D ) All hail the Mossman!

My heart is sobbing whenever I read the words "Fighting Fantasy". Lately I stumbled upon this free 80 Mb work of lifetime love: "The Atlas of Titan" by Simon Osborne and others. A collection of all published FF maps. If you like old school watercolor/ink art (and you do, Billiam ), you should pick up this tome of inspiration: outspaced.fightingfantasy.org/ (choose "Gamebooks" on the left menu, scroll down and download My copy of Mozilla firefox seems to be struggling a bit with that download but I'll check it out later. Thanks - I have a the small puffin paperback of Atlas of Titan (not for sale) but I believe that there was a larger version at some point (I have Out of the Pit - which is filled with lovely black and white illustrations) EDIT: the download worked! - oooh, lovely maps ... Not only has FF been returned but there are versions on Kindle and I-phone! Reivaj, I prefer Fighting Fantasy to the CYOA books (at the few I bought) because it uses a dice system, which really made the fights come alive. There's some great blogs and sites out there on FF books, new and old (like "Outspaced" above). Also there's quite a few free fan-fiction downloads, but I'm far too lazy to round up all the links now. There's a few guys like me who were actually introduced to fantasy RPG gaming through these and the Lone Wolf books (Grail Quest and Sagard aside ...) I'm always curious at the fact that some gamers still really look down on them. Many are surprisingly well written and superbly illustrated. I rarely see them in bookshops in the Midlands, Uk although the new ones are out there. Check out the current rights-holders of Fighting Fantasy: fightingfantasy.com/(Two FF blogs I'm enjoying: virtualfantasies.blogspot.com/ and the very funny turnto400.blogspot.com/ ) The bad news is, guys, is that I might have to start adding postage soon since posting to Australia seems to cost the actual price of the sale. D'oh!
