I still find Marcos's board ingenious, placing everything at an angle. It just feels more 'real'

Even though all is not going as good as I hoped, I'm going to finish it. Uugh! After the first one didn't go too good, I restarted with a new print up, this time, regular paper and went back to my usual method. Now I have two crap looking stompie bods!! Oh well, I keep blundering on... Oh yeah, Vermin King - I got some watercolour pencils, the lighter of the two has been edged with them. Works well, thanks for the heads-up!

I don't have a large collection of them, but the ones I have do well. Glad they are working for you.

Cut out the base last night on Big Bertha, which will be filled with aquarium gravel for ballast. Then I was looking at build order. My first thoughts were that it was going to be a pleasure to be working with big chunky parts. Then I was thinking about making the gun rotate, not realizing that the designer made this easy. At the bottom of the page is a fold-over part which is where the support arms get glued. The top of the pedestal is textured, so I don't have to worry about white showing. As I have said recently, I am a magnetic functional idiot. So visiting aisle F29 at Walmart I decided to get started. I already have quite a selection of disks, washers, and paperclips at home This could be fun. While looking up the photo, I did a search at Ninjatoes, ninjatoes.blogspot.com/search?q=annihilationThat CORE Intimidator Tower looks pretty good, too

The Onager is one of my favorite models. I don't have that many of them around though. People talk me out of them As far as Big Bertha, I didn't get far last night. Drunk client phone calls... Base, Tower, and Barrel shown below Base done. Tower mostly done. The barrel slides into and through the upper parts, so I may build the big bulky upper part first, so that I can slide the barrel through the square holes while it dries to keep it square

I'll post a better write up in the Galery, but here are a couple of Drone stands to go with a couple of different games. Figure for scale.

I really need to get on something for this. I think I'm going to do the Fairchild AU-23A super porter by Robert Navratil.

For anyone keeping track of this build... While the rest of the model was "as is", I decided to embellish the running gear. I printed an extra set of track-skirts, but enlarged by about 5%. The tracks were made to be segments: The whole thing is all together now. Jut needs some of the edges tidied up: Over all, it was quite easy to build, yet still has an interesting shape. All the time I was making it, ideas were going through my head on how to tart it up. But I managed to to file them under "next time", or else it would never have been finished! Also, because I hadn't used the printer for some time, the heads had got a bit blocked. Despite running the head cleaning routine a few times, the print out has some feint banding. The last sheet, the one with the extra track and skirts on was clear of stripes. So, you know, I have to do a few more models to keep the printer running good. Right?

You know, if we did a photo of the week, this is outstanding I had so much to do for my night home last night, I didn't get much done, in between other work Did a real quick gluing on the barrel this AM, while the sausage was frying, but I didn't get a photo. The idea of letting the barrel sit in the 'jig' overnight worked well.

The edging went like this: Hmmm, colour match not right, eeeee... too dark, ffft! too yellow. Agh! Looks like mud now!Ah, yes, mud and lots of it! Hides a multitude of sins And now a teaser for the next one... If the engines were where the tracks should be, the Onager would make a great jump buggy. Or arrange to be on top, but arrange for skids along the bottom

Took me a bit of research to realize that you are referring to the old Best Paper Models model. I knew the name was familiar, but the old bestpapermodels site has been down for years

I'm already thinking the back part of the Onager should be detachable. Now, a jump-buggy... Nice! We're looking at a whole family of module vehicles.

If you do a search for 'Onager' in these forums, you will find many mods already. One of these days over at the OneMonk Downloads, we could have a section dedicated to the beloved Onager and its mods

alloydog , that onager looks amazing, and now I know how people do the treads like that. Vermin King , where's that yellow hopper thing from? This is my contribution to the "Let's all build some stuff" thing that we're doing this month. I'm really glad we're doing this. This is the most build pics I've seen here in a while, and that makes me happy. After all it was build pics that fueled my obsession, ummmm... interest in papercraft.
...almost forgot. Fairchild AU-23 super porter by Robert Navratil.

...almost forgot. Fairchild AU-23 super porter by Robert Navratil. Nice Super Porter, but I was hoping that the Peacemaker would have the doors off and a massive machine gun sticking out. I think the Thai Air Force still has a few of these. I miss BestPaperModels, though I never built the free Spice Fiero or the racing boat that I no longer have. The yellow hopper was a freebie from Reviresco/tin-soldier. It was where I got my feet wet on Wayback Machine. You can get to the download page, but you cannot retrieve the files. alloydog, only my first Onager has the back glued on. The rest are detachable.

Hi. This is the current state of my Zone 10 terrain set. I'm trying to magnetize the various part for easier assembly.

Since the Intimidator counterpart of this can easily have a rotating turret and elevating barrel, I am going to poke some small holes in the upper arms so that the barrel assembly can have a toothpick mounted between the parts to be the axle for this one to elevate as well. If it doesn't work, I can always glue it in place

Should have paid better attention. The upper support arms are not closed boxes. To do my variable elevation mod, I'm going to have to build them around some foam core, which barely fits the thickness. But this is probably to the good, since I can make it longer than the part is tall, the material will help support the join between the upper and lower parts

If it doesn't work, I can always glue it in place A few years back, when I made a stompie, I used wooden kebab skewers - same principle as a toothpick for smaller models. Probably teaching grandpa to suck eggs, but if you chop one of the pointy ends off, give that end a nice blob of PVA glue, then push it all the way so that if touches the wall on the other side, it will be really strong.

Finis!!! Rotates and elevates. And it looks pretty good for being taken from an old, old, old video game. One thing I noticed about that site with the models, some look almost minecraftian, and others look really good, but almost all of the weaponry looks really stinking good. I might have to create a few pages of Total Annihilation weapons to use on other models. But that will have to wait until I do dragon repair
