Sorry to be confusing, sometimes I forget others haven't been playing games like that for so long. I'm used to there being - at least in gaming & some military circles - a simple classification of cavalry mounts into "light," "medium," & "heavy." Light warhorses are generally known for speed & nimbleness. They and their riders usually are lightly armored at most, since they're being used for quick movement & scouting. Sort like Arabians. Medium warhorses would be a heavier horse & troop. Think of them as knights in the eras before full plate armors were common riding on horses that looked remarkably like your pack horse. Freisians are the best example. Heavy warhorses are just that. They're the massive, powerful breeds used now as draft animals. The weight of plate armors required that strength. Think Clydesdales or Belgians. Of course, it also seems that historically the "medium" designation wasn't used. ;D And I'm sure no one will care what you call your warhorse, so long as they can find him. -Pb

Hi, Xtea.
I love your draft horse. I love the musculature and the dynamism. I was wondering if you had an earlier version without the harness. I would like to be able to use this same horse as a large riding horse. I would need to work out some sort of saddle, but a version without the pulling harness would be a big help.
In the future, if you were to come up with barding for this beauty, you would have the thanks and praise of many, I´m sure.
Also, if I may, I would like to suggest for the Knight Horse, that you have at least three legs on or near the ground. I say this because it would add stability to the miniature. You could possibly add grass or other vegetation to attach raised hooves to the base. I´m planning to slot paper mini riders onto the saddle.
Cheers,

Afet, If you go back to page 2 of this thread and scroll down you'll find Xtea's original artwork for her upcoming warhorse, complete with saddle and barding. It will probably fit your needs when she gets it done.

Just wanted to pass along the praises of my gaming group for your draft horses. I whipped up a set using Squirmy's cut file, and presented a pair pulling a wagon (FDG's beta) filled with crates (from Dave Graffam's models), mounted on 40mm pills. Everyone loves them - good thing we've got a few stables in the town. Now, on to the pack horses! -Pb

I have a knight horse in the set, just I havent finished it yet. ^^; Yeah, I am toooo slow... sry U__U thanks. squir-> your welcome! Afet-> Sorry but I dont have a version without harness. sry ^^" I have a knight horse in the set, as dryw told it. It is admirable that anyone non-native speaker can communicate at all in this language plagued with inconsistencies, bizarre spelling, metaphors. Anyway, I look forward to your knight horse. May I request that the mane of the horse not cover the saddle? I would like to mount paper minis on the your horse, using slots. But this will not work well if the mane is in the way. Thanks for your beautiful horses. Cheers,

No worries, Xtea. Your English is as good as some native speakers' I've met - and so much better than my German ever was. As for figures, I'm just waiting for your knight's horse. It looks great, and I'm sure it will work well. If you're looking for ideas, how about one like your wild horse that has the saddle & tack for riding? That would be hugely popular, I have no doubt. Have fun with your drawing, and thank you again for giving these to us. You've made many fans already. -Pb

Just ran a story where your Pack Horses and Draft Horses were used in a merchant caravan with my wagons. Everybody loved them. Thanks once again. Dryw the Harper I just wish I could figure out how to post a picture that comes up more than an inch or two big so I could show you your horses at work.

Dryw, the best way to post pics is to first upload to a site like Imageshack or Photobucket. There will be a choice of codes for you to copy into a forum. They usually also have a direct link code, if you don't want to have the pics show up in the post itself.

But I want the pictures to show up in the post. My problem is that they always come out soooo small. Check the thread on Imperfect Tavern Patrons, I tried posting a picture but it came out so small you can barely make out what it is. Dryw the Harper

It should work like this: The code to produce this is: img245.imageshack.us/img245/6961/moriah.jpg[ IMG] except that the space before the final IMG is actually /. Imageshack (and I suspect Photobucket) also provides a 'jpg' code that will produce a thumbnail instead. If you've got the files uploaded, look for the "forum" code & try it. If that doesn't work, send me a PM & we'll see about getting stuff sorted out. Don't want to hijack the thread any further. -Pb

Dryw-> Thanks! I would be glad if I can see them. But I dont know what is the problem, why is your pics are showing small when you post them. =/ I hope pb could help you in it. Maybe the upload site what you use has the problem... or I dont know. =/ Anyway finally I finished the knight horse. I hope it is good enough. Or should I darken the shadows more? isnt his tail too dark? And I also hope that it is in line. Here he goes: I hope you like it guys! I am sorry my slowness. U__U Only the pegasus remain, and I need to change the angle of the palomino horse a bit and lighten the pack horse a bit and I will finish the set! I dont know when I will do it. I still dont have the pegasus other side yet...-.-

This is fantastic, Xtea. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us. I love your choice of colors. My only suggestion would be to lighten all of the colors a bit. I suspect that they may turn out to be a bit too dark when we print them. I'll do a test this evening. Thanks again, Xtea. Cheers,

WOW! Another great horse. Perfect for putting riders upon. Very useful. ;D Oh, and I tried the Forum code, it is the one I was using and it still makes the picture small, though I may post one of a Draft Horse pulling a wagon anyway. Here goes... Dryw the Harper

Oh, and I tried the Forum code, it is the one I was using and it still makes the picture small, though I may post one of a Draft Horse pulling a wagon anyway. It is not the forum code. The image you linked have exactly this size. You must "tell" 4shared (or who is making your preview pictures) to do bigger images.

The new horse definitely looks great. More cavalry in our near future! I really like the pic, Dryw. Good luck tweaking the site's settings. I've had no problems with the colors of the palomino or pack horse when printed. I'll just make sure to save the final versions with different names and end up with twice the goodness. ;D -Pb

Built a small number of Knight's Horses tonight. Modified the Captain, Sargent, and a few of the Soldiers from Imperfect Soldiers 2 (the more "evil-looking" Soldier set) into cavalry. They came out really well. They'll be used in tomorrow night's game. Thanks once again for the wonderful horses. ;D Dryw the Harper

oh! Wow! They looks so cool! ;D Thank you for showing it Dryw! But the draft horses must be bigger than the knight horse, but on your photoes they look familiar in size. Or am I wrong And Dryw about the knight horse-> should I lightened them a bit? Somebody told me that he think it will be too dark.

I thought the Draft Horses should be large, like Clydesdales, in order to pull fully loaded wagons. Knight's Warhorses were said to be similar in size in order to carry a fully armored knight and still be able to charge and manuever around the field. The Knight's Horse looks a little dark when viewing it on the screen, but it prints out quite well. ;D Dryw the Harper (who still hasn't mastered the art of posting pictures full sized)
