They're amazing! I particularly like the little details, like the thorn holding together the leaf slippers on the Chestnut Fairy. Great job!
Could you check the inside of the Walnut Fairy's right eye. It looks like it should have been colored instead of white. The current coloring makes it look a tad lazy eyed (both eyes point in different directions). Sorry to be picky. They are truly great characters.

WaffleM: Yeah, the details ;D I wish I could have come up with something natural for the straps and ropes, maybe insturments. But honestly would you believe that a fairy could play a broccoli? www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GabHGlGm14 or a carrot? I also know that fairies decorate" themselves however they wish with their magic so magic could hold up those leaf slippers, but why not let the guy concentrate on music instead of holding onto his clothes? Thank you for sharing your opinion with me, no need to say sorry for that! The white part was supposed to be a glint, the walnut fairy's is/are the biggest. So they weren't supposed to be colored, but if it makes him look bad I'm going to undo them. Remove the glints completely, or make it a lot smaller. Does it bother anyone on the other fairies? I haven't done it on the angels, but I don't leave it out when I draw otherwise --for fun. Beau: Let's see if resizing will keep them fantastic. I'm wondering about doing different sizes as well as different colors. But I'm nowhere near the end yet to think about that. Xtea: My fav is the autumn chestnut. Although I don't particularly like many of these guys. Out of the 12 I am happy with 5 of them? So let me talk about something I'd love. When will I see your horses? Anita

I think the glints are fine. I'd keep them. It just looks like both of the walnut fairy's eyes point outward, or am I imagining that.
I think the ropes and straps are fine. I just imagine that they are strands of yarn of thread that were nicked from some sleeping forest traveler. Or perhaps they were spun from spider's silk...

Anita How are we going to impart to these young pups, weaned on GW chaos demons, a proper appreciation of Faerie if we don't have the figures to do it with? Titania could humble any lord of chaos with a mere glance, and laugh while doing it! Have fun! Steve

...And have all the stress of designing such omnipotent creatures? Still I could see those. Kind of a cross between this set and a druid maybe?

I said I planned no Puck or Oberon, but I was planning a Queen of fairies. I wasn't planning naming her Tatiana mind you. She was just going to be human scale. The list grows though with the king if you want it.

Very nice - very much a Victorian fairy feel. I would love to see some bug-fairies as well, spiders, glow flies, grasshoppers, all had their place in Victorian fairy art. Richard Dadd's The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke. The Auld Grump, up the airy mountain, and down the rashy glen, e dare no' go a hunting, for fear of little men....

Theauldgrump: In the first designs there were bug fairies originally, Eric said though that my bug fairy designs do not say fairy AND I totally agree with him. Then someone (I'm lazy to look it up who) said that he'd like to see the bug creatures on their own --as bug people. Which I have no problem with. I'll do a bug set in the future. Not in this set though. Thank you for the suggestion though and the comment also that you have checked out my board.

'Sokay, not everyone loves the buggier fairies. You can find calendars with flower fairies, and tree fairies, but is there any love for the spider fairies? Noooo! For gaming, I will admit, my tastes run more toward the Elizabethan faeries, but I like both. It is interesting how perceptions have changed over the fey over time. I would enjoy seeing what you might do with the courtlier faeries of Shakespeare's time. Going by your angels, I think that you would do a good job. And, possibly the most famous cardboard cutout fairies of all time: The Cottington Fairies - a hoax that managed to catch Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The Auld Grump, who's spelling of faeries is subject to change by period....

The Auld Grump: I really was to make buggy fairies... s977.photobucket.com/albums/ae256/Anitangel/?action=view¤t=sketchdump2.jpgSee the guys up front? As for the human looking fairies, and fairies that can only be child size if they wish. A fairy can alter its looks by magic, so you'll never see them in real form and there is no point in arguing about their looks. I wanted to do something more interesting then dressing them up in pretty gowns, I wanted them to wear nature related clothes... like leaves and nuts, branches, fruits, flowers. So you won't see Elizabethan fairies from me --if I understand right those are the absolutely human looking ones with frilly gowns and usually human size. What is going to be in the set though that is going to be human size is the fairy queen, because she doesn't need to hide, and has enough magic to maintain her size. Also these fairies all going to have some sort of wings --dragonflies', moths', butterflies' wings I don't think feathery wing fits them too much, although I have seen some made that way. Hrm... maybe I can just provide human scale of each fairy in the pdf... and have them resized as well on different pages as planned... Ahh, this set starts to stress me out. Anita

Ah, I see - what I was picturing was a bit more of a centaur or drider build, I can't find any really good pictures at the moment, I am using a borrowed wi-fi connection at a local cofee sop, so my speed is a trifle ssllooww. The Grig in D&D is a fairly representative critter of the species though - Sort of a locust/centaur look. The Auld Grump, the image I was looking for was a 19th century cricket fairy, with fiddle.

Looks pretty good! Ther is a human legged moth eared fairy on the piccy too. Anyways when I'm making the buggy kind creatures I'll certainly use this idea.
Thanks!

You are most welcome. It appears that the image I was looking for is no longer online, or my memory as to its whereabouts are sadly mistaken. (Cricket fairy, battered top hat, fiddle, and spats. I believe that it was by Tenniel.) And, just in time for Hallowe'en - while looking for the cricket fairy I ran again across a rather grimmer example of fairy art: The Auld Grump, My staff hath murthered giants, My bag a long knife carries. For to carve meat pies, From children's thighs, With which to feed the faeries.... (Meg Maudlin's Song) *EDIT* By and large Victorian fairies were much nicer than those of earler times....
