The theme for this months HOARD is Wild West, Cowboys and IndiansThis can be any sort of miniature on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your figures, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category.

Paladin suggested the backs I've been doing of Patrick's figs that Revgun posted would be good for the hoard. I'll try to get the formating right.
Edit: Actually its pages and pages, better just put them on the thread.

Oh, nice, Reivaj. I have to take a closer look ... . I like shamans in general very much, because of this nature-animal-connection. I recognize eagle, bear, wolf, leopard shamans . Cool claw-type equipment/weapon. I know, the eagle shaman wanna fly, but be careful with his arm-length. Both are much too long. Also take care of the shoulder/upper-arm region of the leopard man. You could draw it a bit higher. Yes, I think, your arms are too long in general. E.g. right arm of the wolf man. Or legs too short. One of the both. Maybe you should use a good anatomical reference. A stick figure is sometimes sufficient. But you can also prepare your own vector-stick-figure in Inkscape using anatomical schemes from the web. Then you can use it for each of your projects. It's easy. Just work the same way as in your Bug project. Keep it up !

These will be very nice.
Now if someone could do a civil war veteran in a wheelchair...
Actually, I'd like to see a barkeeper, undertaker, banker, preacher and some merchants.

LOL
Isn't it funny, how you can shift the archetypes through the genres ?
I've thought of CW Veterans. Would fit my grim and gritty attitude ;D.
Or a man of the mountains/fur trapper with a long rifle. Mad Doc aka Klaus Kinski.
Don't know, if I have time. And it would be no Saloon/French Concon Girl.

If I can manage it, I will get some bison done for this month's hoard. I need to do some of those at some point anyways for the orc bison riders in Bellicose. That way I can kill two birds with one stone.

I wanted to throw some ideas out there. Besides the figures I requested above. There are several on the forums that do terrain. I think these could be useful.
water trough hitching post barber pole cigar store Indian gallows stagecoach cactus
I mentioned it in a different thread. Some animals would also be useful.
longhorn coyote timberwolf bear buzzard, perched, so he could be put on a fence, tree, boulder, building, etc.

@reivaj, yip ! Sorry for my tip-talk . How do you work in Inkscape ? Do you scan your work into the comp - or do you start from scratch with freehand pen tool or shapes/forms ?

I use corel draw 10. I don´t scan my sketchs, i only use it like reference and i draw then with the bézier tool, them i convert the lines to curve and do the shape that i want.

powerful !!! I can feel the spirit. Yes, this convinces me more and more to try a clean vector approach ... . His face is astonishing. And those feathers striking. I think, it's the best human mini I've seen from you so far, Reivaj. I think, I have to get somehow to this level of abstraction. It's difficult for me.

Here's a figure I started working on for this month's hoard: a simple indian woman. Only black and white front so far, but it's in a good state to receive criticism. Attachments:

So here's a bit of fooling around with the stagecoach rendering. It's just doodling at this point, trying to figure out how I'm gonna texture the thing. I kinda like this look. With a little clean up it'll probably turn out close to this. dl.dropbox.com/u/15163033/stage-rend-t.jpgShawn

Gilius -- I love it. There is a 'but', however. It is the right hand, wrist and forearm. I've looked at your drawing a number of times and thought I wish I could do something as well as that, but I kept having my eyes drawn to that wrist and hand. I finally think I know what it is. If I try to position my hand to mimic the woman's hand, it is awkward. The fingers should point more to the wrist. The wrist shouldn't be as constricted compared to the arm and hand. The top line of the forearm should be straighter, but still not straight. And I'm probably being nit-picky. Using the 3-foot rule, where I'm looking at it on the table at scale, I probably wouldn't notice. It kind of looks like her hand is cupped to be holding something that isn't there the way it is drawn.
grendelsmother64-- I am very anxiously awaiting the wagons. Your 'doodle' art work for the stage is very nice.

I was starting to fill with colors as I read your post. The forearm was indeed strange, I've tried to fix it and also added a gourd rattle for her to hold. After this model is finished, if I have time I'll do an alternate one with both arms down. Here's the new version with front and back but only flat colors. [edit: after posting, I noticed the coloring is wrong on the back of the shoes.] Attachments:
