The theme for this months HOARD is 3D Vehicles / TanksThis can be any sort of miniature on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your figures, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category.

I've already started mine..... more a transport than a vehicle

Unless house building takes over my life entirely, I'm thinking an ox driven clockpunk polybolus. I really want one so if anyone feels like copying the idea it would take some pressure off of me!

I started sketching a sort of modular truck that could be used with a cargo module or other options. I used Blender to get a sense of the proportions. I still have to solve some parts, like the bumper, which I also want to keep modular, and a way to help aligning the box (on which the wheels are attached) to the "skirt" that makes the bottom part of the truck. By the way, the yellow areas below the fenders will be cut out.

I wish I was any good at texturing. I have a couple ideas I'd like to do for this. It would also be good to have more hours in the day ...

I could work a lot faster if I had any aptitude for Digital 3D modeling. - work it out on paper
- test build it
- Adjust pattern
- Scan Pattern
- Redraw it digitally
- Get distracted with another project....

I have the same problem. My digital 3D modeling program is in my head and it's full of registry errors.

I thought I'd try a version of a pre-WWII proposal for a one man unicycle "tank." Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Time allowing, I might just manage to contribute to this month's hoard, but we'll see... Sounds like something I can do, though, rather than minis (at this point). And the mono-tank somehow reminds me of one GW Skaven-mini, and I liked the design then. Don't ecpect your design to work in your average fantasy game .

Textured. I'll probably change the markings to generic (maybe a rattlesnake) and add a base. Test build and I'm done (fingers crossed). Uploaded with ImageShack.us

WOW Why not 3D weapons? (like "extruding" a trapezoid)?

I think I can find some weapons around to modify mine when I get it.
I was hoping kiladecus would get in on this one with his hover/jet bike
If the Connestoga Wagon is textured now, it would fit in this category as well as the Western category

WOW Why not 3D weapons? (like "extruding" a trapezoid)? My goal is one page including instructions on that page. Without the base, it's about one half. The other thing is that weapons like machine guns with their thin barrels really don't make for good 3D. Since this is a pulp-WW2 era "tank," weapons like Gatling guns and laser pods wouldn't be appropriate.

Here's the MkI test-build of the treads/hull section of the piece I'm going to enter. There's one series of measures I have to tweak (by about 1/2 mm), but I don't think that's too bad for the first shot from manual drawing, with a mechanical pencil, no less. There's a picture of the image that inspired me posted on my projects board. Have fun! Steve

Do you use an internet based storage like drop box or photobucket? In Add Tags, the fourth button over on bottom row will let you link to an image stored on the internet. If not, you can use Attachment, which is below the Subject line in a Reply and above the Text box. Here's the link to it in Glenn's blog fingerandtoe.com/wordpress/?p=88Attachments:

Very nice. I'll be making up on of these tonight
While I was building it, I was thinking that if you had a strip to go completely around the cockpit, slapping a couple legs on it would make a really good mech. You could have a lot of variations on this Glenn. BTW, it was an enjoyable build and looks very good. A friend of mine was admiring it, and so did his 13-year-old son. Can't beat that.

I did some time ago a "refit" of GhostofMan X-Com Skyranger. Mainly I "Aztecized" (is that the word?) it and put a more modern X-Com logo.
I'll ask for permission from the original author of the model to include it in the hoard..

So you did it with an interior? Nice

No but I'm toying with that.
I just put a texture and updated the X-COM logo.
If I receive a positive awser to my request to mod, I may do the interior. I'll need to kitbash it on the already constructed Skyranger, tough.
