I've started working on a 3-D rocketship for this month's hoard. I'm posting my progress on my board!
Have fun! Steve

I'm in. Not sure what, though. Maybe a digital water fountain? ;D

I needed some junk piles for my MDRG campaign. The timing of this Hoard couldn't have been better.

I'm thinking it will take at least three months for me to finnish what I started for LAST months hoard

I've got about 2 months invested in that hover bike and still don't have anything to show
It still fits in this month's topic, though

I've been working on my rocket, and I've come to the conclusion that it will take too long to refine the geometry manually, and too much space for the figure hoard.
I'm still going to do the rocket, but I'm going to publish it on my board.
For my forum hoard entry instead, I'm going to do some 2-D and 2.5-D retro-sci-fi apparatus inspired by illustrations from the Buck Rogers Sunday funnies of 1930-1933. They should go very well with Dave Okum's retro-sci-fi figures!
Have fun! Steve

This theme doesn't seem to have as much interest ...
Not sure why. Could be that people are just too busy during the summer months

I'll see if I can resume my 15mm sci-fi terrain in time for the hoard.

Here's an alien thingie to fill whatever role you wish--I conceived it as an antenna, but who knows the inscrutable minds of them furriners from another planet? Uploaded with ImageShack.us

With a pair of them you could have a portal ... or something that zaps anyone going between them without the proper code.

Reminds me somewhat of the Prothean beacon from Mass Effect.

Piles of Junk are very useful compared to my offering.
Oh, wait, I haven't submitted anything. Oh, yeah, because I don't have a clue how to take an idea to a stage of it being presentable.
No, seriously. Junk piles are things that someone should have done ages ago. Maybe not necessary, but certainly helpful. And you did an excellent job on them.

Here's a mini-backdrop... It's the forward view viewport of a retro-rocketship. I'll post a photo of a constructed model tomorrow. Have fun! Steve

@steve: I love the retro look - where's the rest of the rocket, or did it fall apart already? @glenn: you can never have too many thingies, and that one looks hideous.

@steve: I love the retro look - where's the rest of the rocket, or did it fall apart already? Too much fiddley geometry to do by hand in the time I had. So I decided to do a mini-backdrop to use with some of Dave Okum's retro-sci-fi figures. This is a forward end panel. I think I'll also do a generic side panel, a hatch side panel, a ray-projector-sponson side panel and an interior bulkhead. That way, a person could lay out a 2-D deck plan and dress it up a little for a retro-rocketship interior. Also a 3-D control station that will look like a pipe-organ keyboard with a few retro-sci-fi touches, and possibly another few pieces of 3-D equipment. A hearty virtual handshake and the thrill of victory to the person who can name the colors painted on the interior and exterior of the hull panels! Have fun! Steve

Ok, Nik is on a mission to get the Hoards back up to date. He has asked me to make a "last call" on all outstanding hoards (except September) so consider this last call!

Just trying to lay this one out, Glen about how big is your antenna thingy? Its coming out fairly small for me, I make the image 800x600 @300dpi?

"ALIEN THINGIE" You kill me, Glenn! Isn't that a little redundant? I love the fact that it has the F&T banner with the words "Alien Thingie." You are too much! BTW, I love this "thingie!" I am sure that my K'VYK forces will not only know what it is, but how to use it. ;D @steve: Love your backdrop. Glad to see you submitting something to the Hoard!

Steve and Adam could you give me some guidance on the scale for your two submissions.
My guesses so far:
Steve The checkerplate has a grid pattern embedded in it. I'm assuming each square is about 2inchs across? that makes the backdrop about 3.5 inchs tall, does this seem about right?
Adam top of each scrap pile 1inch square or 2inchs square? My guess is about 2 inchs square?
Thanks both
