Here we are, a revised Hopper Bug thing. I made the green on the legs as dark as on the body (which colour was actually a happy accident to begin with) and desaturated the wings:

What I do to get things ready is get the pages so that everything fits inside this outline. Does that help? I can try to revamp the transporter room into this format, however, I'm not sure, whether the "long" wall will fit. I may then have to edit the waals once more... EDIT: How is this supposed to fit on a US-Letter page? With the boxes touching the edges? I just ask cuz the PNG is wider than LTR... O.O You scared me there. Opened the png in GIMP and it is 2550 pixels X 3300 pixels, which is letter EDIT-- I thought maybe in the process of uploading to PostImage, it may have rescaled, or possibly rescaled in both the upload and download. So, I downloaded the version I posted above to another location and opened it, and it is 2550 pixels X 3300. PM me if there's something I can do with getting this formatted While I'm on here, I got some more bugs formatted. The grazers won't fit unless I go back to six instead of eight.

Well, I created extra work for myself. I made up the Hoard templates last night. I should have done that before I started converting the templates to 'cutter-friendly' I also did the cutting area template in pdf this AM, since the png is wonky for some systems. I hope this helps cutting_area.pdf (113.08 KB)

What the Hive Queen wants, the Hive Queen wants, you know? Just kidding of course, I think it all looks wonderful. I appreciate the hard work you have put into this.

Yikes! I just saw that MAJOR Typo hit the first page... The set is of course 5 pages long, not 3 as stated in the instructions... Sorry for that! And you will need to add glue flaps to the second side of the small wall as well. I forgot to do that when cutting it off the door wall...

I put together my bug files to print tonight, so it wasn't a total loss. I thought I'd worked out the geometry on the Type 94, but I accidentally created a couple incidental errors. Doing my print files for the Hoard somewhat redeemed my night

Sometimes I fail to realize what a wise man that I am ... I know- I should trust the millions who worship my wisdom.
Okay, back to reality, I am so glad I decided not to build all the bugs. They are great bugs, but I am so tired of cutting out the legs

I always start with the larger versions of things before going to middle-sized, then the smallest. Getting into a rhythm helps. Can I shrink the Warrior Bug? It would be a lot easier if the legs lined up to be fold-overs, like on the hoppers and grazers I also use scissors except for delicate work

Can I shrink the Warrior Bug? Yes, feel free to shrink the pink one if need be

Can I shrink the Warrior Bug? Yes, feel free to shrink the pink one if need be The Hoppers and Grazers were a lot easier because the legs line up to be fold-overs. At this scale, you can't do that with the Warrior Bug, unless you go to one bug on the page. The bug looks great, and the easier it is to build, the more folks will build it. I at least need to see how much reduction it would take. If it is 'acceptable' at the reduced scale, we could go with it. If not acceptable, maybe we can do the single-bug per page option as an option I'll just have to see how it goes

I would actually like the single bug a page option. Yes paper is somewhat costly, but if you plan ahead and get some deals it isn't too bad.

Another idea is to split the pieces up so you could have a bunch of parts like legs on one page and the other parts on another to be more efficient with spacing. Just my two cents, they are great models after all.

I think a bug a page is a great idea. Reducing the size on them would make the already spindly legs just that much weaker.

Well, I messed up and forgot to change the name of the reduced version (second revision). I tried it at 95%, and just couldn't get things to work. So I tried again at 94% and it goes, but I forgot to change the file name to '...94' instead of '...95'. Oops. Easy enough fix Frankly, I'm needing to get onto other things than building more bugs (though I am curious about the size differential). I'm thinking bonus pages. If I do a one bug on the page, what would you all think of having it super-sized? As big as will fit on the page with my new 'paired' legs. Like a super bug or colony queen.

I think a bug a page is a great idea. Reducing the size on them would make the already spindly legs just that much weaker. Yes and no. Page thickness comes into play. Yes, the legs are thinner, but the page thickness remains the same. The little grazers are quite stout, and not that difficult to cut out, since the legs are fold-overs. I think I will make a super bug using the same artwork, but if someone wants to jazz it up a bit to make it extra special for the queen, I'd like to see some ideas

Super Warrior Bug Actually, not that much bigger than the original, so a somewhat super bug. But it will be a whole lot easier to build. probably should have done this like minis with fold lines and a larger outline on one side. eh

I Love the super sized bug! I think it would be a blast to kitbash, like two heads or lots of legs! Sadly it will have to wait until I get my new WWG models together. . . sigh.

To be honest, all of my generic tanks were designed to be about the same size as the plastic tanks that normally come with plastic army men, specifically the tank that comes with Tommy army men. Considering that they are all basically the same turret and body with different track and hull decoration, they make good stand-in tanks until you can get the models of the real thing. My little Bear is no match for a real detailed kit of an amazing T-34 tank. Those things are amazing! They also take about 15 pages of parts to build. For gaming purposes, my Bear is easier to replace if it gets coffee spilled on it or crushed during transport, or accidentally destroyed in any way than that beauty of a realistic model you spent hours on. I'm going to keep modifying my generic tanks to make them more like the tanks they stand in for, but they will always remain true to the original artist's basic design. I will keep the same part count and configuration. I will always do my best to preserve the page count. I may alter the part size or shape, as I have the tracks in this model. I will also take recommendations on tanks to try to emulate like I did with the T-34.

Those bugs are outstanding and I can't believe how good the green hopper came out! I'm having Planet P flashbacks! OMG! This place crawls. Someone get on the horn to fleet and get us off this rock and then tell them to glass this sandbox.
Wow! A transporter room! Awesome! It looks great, shep.
