This is great, I really like the idea... However, where do you all get those wonderful trees? Thanks! I will be refining and expanding it over the next few months. I've got a long list of encounter ideas, map-tiles planned out, lots of enthusiasm, and a built-in playtester and fan in my sons. I just finished adding in the proper links to a post at my nascent blog: dungeon-mama.blogspot.ca. I didn't want to keep editing my post out of eligibility You're looking for Oversoul's paper mini terrain, available as free/donation-ware downloads, in particular 2D trees, bushes, rocks & 2.5D trees & bushes. There's lots more where those came from. I hope to get to playing one or more of their games in the next month, and doing up more of their awesome terrain & minis. They are a little cartoony, and slightly pixelated, but they work well enough with the scale and theme here. I've got all of Fat Dragon's overland papercraft terrain sets, but haven't found the time to do up more than campfires & tents, so these little portable trees, etc. are great.

I know it's past the deadline but Brian actually emailed this to me back in May and I just forgot to get it up. This really was submitted on time. This is what he included in the email: ] I know you are going to be _awfully_ busy with this year's Papercut submissions, Squirmydad, but I want to remember to check these out when you've got the OneMonk site back up...

I'd not originally planned to include this and my other entry into the Papercuts 2013 contest, but if I don't now, I never will get them done ;D I hope it at least brings a smile to your face, if not admiration for my skill!
Sadly, only camera working is my iPhone, and neither of my printers nor my scanner were in the necessary full working order to assist, so things are a little rough. My mini, therefore, is the original, prior to being scanned and printed. My photo-scan needed too much digital manipulation to restore true colours to make it worth my while for the contest submission.

What kids ever met up in a tavern? Nope, our bold adventurers begin their heroic journey one simple, sunny summer day, enjoying the fresh air and a delicious picnic. But what is a picnic without ants? Here is adversary number two for our bold Picnic Adventurers (the first ANTagonist was diplomatically turned into an ally): a baby mimic at play The picnic basket is all one piece, folded, and has the following options built-in: food, blanket, mimics (2), and lid to keep it all in Dryw's female cleric from his Imperfect Child Adventurers set is included for scale, and your defense! I'd not originally planned to include this and my other entry into the Papercuts 2013 contest, but if I don't now, I never will get them done ;D I hope it at least brings a smile to your face, if not admiration for my skill!

Here's what I've been up to all summer. Well, lots of picnics, certainly, with my two boys lil' G (age 7) and lil' L (age 3). And trying to get a game of Pathfinder going with my husband and our friends while having to satisfy my fix diving into this wonderful hobby of papercraft for gaming. The closest I've come this true adventuring has been A Pathfinder Picnic in the Park with lil' G, GMing him as he went through the solo adventure in the Pathfinder Beginner Box, The Skeleton King's Crypt, with help from a couple of paper minis. The combination of my favourite pastimes inspired me to start designing a kid's game which may one day see the light of day. The pictures below show a glimpse into a couple of adventures I've got planned. The ant is Reivaj's Ant Warriors Standard Bearer, shrunk to 67% and de-weaponized so that he doesn't present a threat to Dryw's excellent adventurers. The background is from A Hobbit Companion book, the ground from a Japanese papercraft site modded in Gimp, the greenery from Dungeon Plungin' which I have yet to read the rules for, and the Picnic Mimic, blanket, and log are all mine. The log, in fact, I've already shared in a previous post, and was my first paper mini, made on the fly for that first photo. Supplemental to the entry, a couple of fun details as I play around with Dryw's amazing little adventurers...

Do you just cut a slit large enough for the tab of the mini? Mine keep bowing and I suspect it is because of how I am doing it. I totally agree, I want to base mine like that in the future as well. It looks way more neat and tidy. Still hoping Litko comes out with some acryllic bases with slots for the mini tabs though Check Jim/One Monk's recent threads - he's done something like that before, and was open to doing it again at Litko. I can't remember where it was... but in the last week or so. I really want some as well, just got to figure out my needs and how I can squeeze it into the budget (with customs, duties, extra shipping to Canada & all that fun :/ )

Quite honestly I probably won't be home until 8pm AKDT to make my, "Pencils down!" announcement. I'll be eating Thai yellow curry chicken until then. That sounds like A LOT of Thai yellow curry chicken... Even I, the once-upon-a-higher-metabolism buffet queen, couldn't eat for thirteen hours straight, and certainly not just one dish

I know there are some Dwarf fans in here. This will be available in September. I really like how it has turned out! These are fantastic! One of my players will be really happy to have one for her female dwarf fighter. I guess this is one of the reasons Darkfast Dungeons isn't already out yet - you've got lots of excellent projects on the go, all at the same time! BTW, what Kickstarter was this for?

Spotted Owl Games seems to use these card stands to hold their "City Folk" Pathfinder-like pawns. I was going to back their kickstarter, but now (thanks to fully embracing this site's TRUE paper minis) I'm just following it. Nice idea for those who like CG, though.

Thanks, Spaceranger. I was familiar with the site already, since Inked Adventures has done some tiles through them, and I was checking them out for that purpose (only 3.5" square though, and I want 4"). I hadn't seen this part. The card stand (triangular profile) is 3/4" x 3/4" base (19.3x19.05 mm) and holds single-thickness cardstock (maybe double would be okay), and the game stand (square base) is 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" base (32 x 32 mm) with a gap suitable for chipboard thickness if I read the description right. I just wish they'd have clear ones, but these are nearly as good an option as the Pathfinder Beginner Box pawn bases I use sometimes.

I finished the build of the minis but i´m having problems with my camera . My wife fell to the floor with the camera in hand and broke the lens and now i only have the bad camera of my cell phone, now i´m trying to get a borrowed camera I hope your wife, at least, is okay. Cellphone photos _can_ sometimes turn out wonderfully, but it's so much better when you can get the proper depth of field to really show off the minis.

Yes, thanks indeed! I laughed out loud at the drunken peasant dancing around, and loved the flaming pig beside him. Great to have normal citizens in the game - although not usually great for them Are you entering one/some of these in the Papercuts? You should - I'm not sure how much competition there will be yet. Only Jim/OOM (that's ORIGINAL One Monk) has officially announced his intention, and I've not yet seen any submissions in the thread...

I've been having some late-night fun with it, when I just want to crash in bed with my laptop before sleep. I love the figures, and the tiles, and am also enjoying the card drawing aspect of it (which I didn't think I would). Sometimes the "luck of the draw" can be a little too random (or not random enough), as happened when I went back from level seven dungeons to level six @ the end of the night and wiped out because I had _no_ usuable attack cards for any of my characters for a few rounds. My biggest tip for those starting out -> don't make your fighter a dwarf. Until level 5 I was continously frustrated by him, as he could only move at a walk (thus 1/2 distance), and so my tank was always in the back. My wizard did more bashing than did my fighter all through level one, too bad he didn't have the hit points to take the damage I really wish they would release a physical or printable version of it, but I can completely understand why they wouldn't want the paper to compete the computer, or for an unscrupulous competitor to copy the artwork.

Here are the final sketches for the figures I'm making in the Papercuts competition.I also had the Netherlord listed but just don't think I have the time to get that one done as well, besides, doing it 2.5D would be the best way to make it. Another project for another day. Anyway, I am a bit less rusty than I thought, it helps I have to do lots of sketches for work. The next step for me is to scan and scale them up twice the size so I can do clean drawings of them front and back, hopefully tomorrow! These look FANTASTIC! You are definitely _not_ rusty. They look like a lot of fun; I may have to learn enough to stat them up for Pathfinder to play them against my son, soon.

I saw that an older version of D&D (3E but around transition to 3.5 maybe?) that was Diablo-themed. But naturally trying to track down the corresponding minis would cost an arm & a leg, so paper minis are the best bet! I love D2 the best, particularly the desert & Lut Golein; Billiam Babble's Vexing Sands, Jabbro's Arabian & Egyptian minis, and a few other papercraft creators' works have increased my desire to run an adventure or two with a desert theme inspired by that area. Probably not coincidentally, Quest For Glory II: Trial By Fire was my favourite of the series, and I'd love to bring back my longest standing RP character back to life from that game, and maybe re-visit Shapeir & Raseir. But if you're not familiar with that one, perhaps I better talk to bravesirkevin

4) Will you be making available the eyeline template? Drawing isn't one of my strong suits, but I'd love to try my hand at something original at some point. Your template would make the process less intimidating, in size and proportion. Should be in here; Design AidsThe section of the forum called Papercraft and Modelling Discussion has a board called Designing Figures - lots of links and resources in there. Designing FiguresAh, thanks so much. You know, I heard about such a sub forum, but I've been spending too many visits hitting the "new" button instead of reading more systematically like I should have. *red-faced* BTW - where did the Skullie faces go?

I am so loving those bases! Tell me they are easy to come by? They are Litko clear acrylic bases, that I think Jim made specially (can't remember the thread where this was brought up previously). You can find similar bases here, but they are only in circle & square shape, and there is no slot to hold the mini. I, too, would love to make an order for a bunch of medium, some small, some large, and some pill-shaped (for horses), since I'd rather spend my limited free time making minis & terrain than endless bases for different maps & terrain. (Though I do think that the One Monk bases & Reivaj redesign are brilliant, I just would rather focus on their even more brilliant minis!)

I contacted DarkMook (Adam) recently about a mini that my zombie game was going to need in the near future. He was very helpful and came through in record time with awesome results. If you need some custom minis produced, you can find a safe investment with DarkMook Miniatures. In much less time than expected, Adam produced this commissioned mini for me. Can you guess where this character came from? Fantastic! I especially like the detailing and shading on the clothing, and think the whole thing will show great on the table. Nice work, Darkmook! No clue as to the inspiration, as zombie movies aren't my cup of tea anymore.

[quote author=" onemonk" source="/post/51619/thread" timestamp="1376608674" I am slowly starting to get all my crap organized to design paper figures once more.
It's been a couple years now, and a lot has changed, and I quite miss the community and the challenge of designing these things.
I have been writing down all sorts of ideas for things, much from memory of things from before, but I also want to make a lot of fan art design for games like Torchlight, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Halo, etc. These of coarse, would be free and would just be nice to have to fill out a lot of fantasy and sci-fi miniatures slots for gaming.
I'll use this area to post all sorts of ideas and projects to work on for the paper modeling things. Along with free stuff I also want to make more commercial sets so I can get some hobby money, Warhammer does not come cheap!
First things first, I am still setting up all the software, getting the color pallets added, and updating all the original layout templates.
The first project is my entry for the Papercuts, Torchlight 2 Netherum Demons, I really love how these things look and will make for some very compelling miniatures. JIM[/quote] 3 4 things: 1) Welcome back! It's great news, as you were the nucleus of this creative group, and have set a standard for paper miniatures that rival and often exceed other miniature media. Great news for you personally to be so invigorated & inspired 2) I personally would love to see fan art renderings for Diablo, as I've whiled away many an hour in that game and its sequel (no playtime in D3, though), and previous to that various incarnations of Doom and more importantly Heretic/Hexen. Gaming for me has almost always been computer; getting into tabletop gaming (after a scant bit in my early youth) in part because I want more facetime in my gametime. Nice to bring over elements of one over to the other! 3) The Netherim look really intriguing. I'd thought about playing Torchlight when I saw it on GOG, but I'm more immersed in sampling the breadth of tabletop RPGs and its accompanying hobbies in my rarefied free-time. I particularly like this portrayal of Netherim kin I found when looking up the beast. 4) Will you be making available the eyeline template? Drawing isn't one of my strong suits, but I'd love to try my hand at something original at some point. Your template would make the process less intimidating, in size and proportion.

I am now on RPG now. One set to start with with lots more to come. Started with the wild orcs, cavalry next. Since you forgot to say exactly what and where here are the relevant details. Publisher's product listing: Josedominguez The first offered is 15mm set, Jose's Hordes= Wild Orc Warband for $1.99USD (I think, unfortunately RPGNow is converting all USD to CAD for my "convenience"). Congratulations! The minis look great - you've managed to imbue them with a lot of character, in spite of their small scale. EDIT: I guess squirmydad gave the above information on your behalf here. Ah, well, didn't see it, and it just means that now you have two pointers to the set

Another halfling source, once again only front art (mirrored, and I think from Pathfinder in the case of the fantasy stuff), is Paper Friends -> scroll down to the fantasy section. Bookman60 pointed the site out in this thread, and I'm just now taking a peek. Looks like there are lots of viable halflings, and passable gnomes & dwarves too, though if that's the case, best to chase down the Paizo product they are from - maybe the NPC Codex Box?

This product isn't very good, imho. It's a ( very ) old product. These "paper figures" ( it wants to be only an euphemism ) are photographs of historical models ( 54/90 mm ) by Pegasus Models ( a very good italian producer, but this is another hobby ). Despite this many figures have the mirrored photo on front and back. Dwarfs (3/4) and halflings ( 2 ) are only resized humans' ( historical warriors ) pics. Only one has regular back. Ah, that's too bad, though not terribly surprising. I recall reading that it was photographs of well-painted physical minis, but that can have varied success. I've sent them Alea PG a message via Facebook, here's hoping they comply with my request and update their links with previews. Even if something's a buck I like to know what I'm getting. The APG City tiles are also an older product, but I was quite happy with them nonetheless - not ZseZse quality by any stretch, but wouldn't look out of place with Dramascape or dunjinni battlemaps or maptiles. They'll be useful for flexible village/town/small city battlemap construction when existing maps don't work and 3D terrain isn't worthwhile. I also bought Medieval Landscapes: Peasant House, which has good flavour, and an interesting 3D rendering of a handful of peasant houses. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Ah! I have something _actually_ constructive to add to the topic @ hand! I'd forgotten about this one - not ideal, but good artwork: Treasure Awaits! Conflict Kit from Precis Intermedia, a free download which includes "Hobling" counters in their Disposable Hero line: not minis, front only, but shouldn't be too hard to convert them over in quick & dirty fashion. The scale is right, and the artwork decent. The set includes 4 copies (same pose) each of a Warrior, Rogue, and Wizard. The female Dwarven Rogue might also work. www.rpgnow.com/product/104880/Treasure-Awaits-Conflict-KitEDIT: Another likely possibility is from Alea Publishing Group's APG Paper Figures: Military Orders, "based on historical and fantastical military orders and Dwarfs and Halflings hide among them." It's only a buck, I liked the City Tiles set that I bought last month, their products appear well illustrated, and well-rated, so should be worth a try. BTW, their publisher previews lead you to an similarly-named but apparently unrelated publishing company. Alea's actual website is www.apg-games.com/, but there's not information there at the moment.

Hi Guys. Just went through my stuff and the only two Halflings I've posted were in the Imperfect Thieves Guild set. I did a commission of a bunch of Halfling sailors, but I didn't really like how the line art came out when they were shrunk to Halfling size, so I never posted them. Since then I re-inked all the lines on the original art, but I've never scanned them back in or turned them into a new PDF. Since the figures I do are generally for my campaign (and there are some I've never posted) and in the past 15 years no one has played a Halfling (the last was named Cognac Brandywine), I've had little reason to make any. Anyway, maybe I'll get around to posting new things soon, but it seems I go through fits of creation and then periods of simply using what I've already made. And I make more than figures, I have all sorts of Imperfect Props and Imperfect Scenery (done to match the style of Inked Adventures) I've never posted that get used in my regular game. I guess I never wanted to release too many things for free that others make their living off of. I see I'm rambling a bit, so I'll come to an end now. Dryw the Harper Dryw, I want to thank you once again for all the wonderful minis you have generously shared with us. They have brought such fun to me and my son, and we've only gotten a couple of sessions in since I started in this hobby a few months ago. I'm new again to the whole RPG experience, having been led through a couple of AD&D adventures when I wasn't much older than my seven-year old. We (my self, husband, and a very good friend-couple) have been trying to get a game of D&D4E or Pathfinder together for several months together without success, but fortunately (nay, serendipitously) I found this complementary hobby. After succumbing to Fat Dragon's tantalizing Kickstarter (a miraculously economical alternative to the Dwarven Forge campaign running at the same time, especially for a Canadian), I ran across your Imperfect Wilderness posting on FD's forums, which led me here. Your work has entertained me with its whimsy, and its practicality, and led me to the work of so many other papercraft artists here. I never would have discovered them otherwise, and have been happily buying from them when funds and fancy align. I would be MORE than happy to purchase anything you decided to sell. I don't think either selling or giving away your work would be detrimental to others here (and I think they'd agree), as your style is unique, and your pieces almost always fill gaps in other's offerings, rather than overlap/compete with them. I would LOVE to see your Imperfect Scenery in particular (I've bought nearly all of Inked Adventure's stuff so it would fit in nicely), and I'm sure I'm not along, especially with many of us (here @ Cardboard Warriors, and far beyond) playing Card Hunter and coveting the "hand-drawn"/"old school" battlemaps If you were my GM, I'd be thrilled to pieces, and bringing you cookies and other goodies. Over the interwebs, my effusive gratitude may have to do. P.S. My own GM (if only for two Pathfinder Society sessions so far) will be getting some lovely papercraft goodies any day now: your closed wagon & driver, a draft horse from Xtea, all tucked inside Dave Graffam's hovel. Funnily enough, for all the MANY papercraft files I've purchased, I've almost only built free ones so far. Maybe because my laser printer has been threatening me with low toner for the last couple of months? P.P.S. Sorry for further derailing the thread. More hobbits/halflings would be nice . My husband read our son The Hobbit, and assuredly we'd love to play a Shire-themed adventure. There'll be plenty of time for him to grow into Mirkwood and worse

I am getting some wonderful feedback on this set. Thanks for the cutfiles and that photo is great oldschooldm! I may need to do an anthropomorphic set: Mice, Rats, Hedgehogs, Ducks, etc... Any interest or input? My seven year old hasn't stopped talking about the ducks and chickens (his personal favourite is the wizard duck, in full starry garb, just like he always wanted). He came up with a mini wargame for them, having them shoot cannonballs at each other from behind "mud walls". He'll play the ducks, and I get to be the chickens. So far he's just talked about it on our walks, so I need to be print out some cannons from one of the hoards tonight or tomorrow. He really wants more ducks Oh, and he gets a real kick out of your Darkfast minis, especially the orcs. I quote: The orc looks like a pig. He looks tasty. If I defeated him, do you think I could eat him? Barbecue him with my fire ball?Hmmm... maybe our first wargame will be Ducks against (p)Orcs!
